MoT/ KT is a complex problem.

MoT's strenghth two years ago was hitting the outside shot early in games and keeping the opposing defense honest.

Should Rice be healthy and productive then MoT becomes redundant. Since he doesn't play D or board then KT becomes a bigger asset to the team.

If no Rice or a productive Nachbar then MoT is very important to the team. If MoT has lost weight and committed to D and boarding then you have the best of all worlds and KT becomes expendable.

Any way you look at it, the Rockets improve. If Rice and MoT are healthy and contributing AND Steve and Cuttino deem them worthy of the occasional pass, then it's lights out for the NBA and we are instantly contenders for big things this year. No 1st round and out either. Who could match up with us?

God forbid Cato comes to play. Look out!::eek:

I don't think they are redundant, they play opposite sides of the floor. That causes double team and matchup problems when they are out there together.

Are Steve and Cat redundant? It's nice to know we have the option of bringing in other players, Boki, TMo, EG and KT, that fill different roles and have different strengths.

Agreed, if Mo T ever plays up to his physique - WATCH OUT! I view Mo T as a reverse Malone. Early in his career Malone was basically a brute with a very strong inside game and a weak shooting touch. Over the years he developed a terrific turn around and consequently became one of if not the dominant 4 in the league. He has faded some, but the dude is still better then 75% of the 4s in the league. It pains me to say all this because I LOATHE MALONE AND ALL THE WINY LITTLE b****ES THAT PLAY FOR UTAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell me how a 6'9" 275 monster like Malone is going to get pushed around like he pretends he does.
If anything he has also greatly improved his acting ability over the years as well.

Anyway, Mo T has the outside game and shooter's touch already. If he were to develop a mean streak NO ONE WOULD WANT TO TOUCH US IN A PLAYOFF SERIES - NO ONE! If we could just convince Mo to get inside and grab 10 boards a game we would be dangerous. I know that this is, unfortunately, easier said than done.

Shouldn't Mo be touted as a GOD? i mean he did the greatest thing in basketball history to date:

    HE TORE HIS ACHILLES

if he didnt tear it, yao wouldnt be a rocket. regardless of how mo does this year, or the rest of his career, he should have his number retired just for gettin injured.

    THANKS MO!!!

.......GREAT REASON Y HOUSTON WILL WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR:

they got 5 starters on the bench. regardless if yao or mo starts, the bench is quite possibly the best in the west, with regards to sacramento and the lakers.
    KT, EDDIE, CATO, MOOCHIE, BOKI
all those guys could start in golden state or memphis.
screw walt, hes 67 years old.

Why... why do some people still consider Fat-A$$ Cato a starter???

He is at best the 9th person in our rotation. We should only put him in the game during garbage time. This way he will look good enough to trade.

mo's gonna start until griff is ready, period. I dunno where Kenny fits in da picture, but da boy CAN play. At this stage of their careers though, Griff and KT r still growin. Mo's as good as hes gonna be. But he's gonna start, Griff and KT are gonna learn, but Kenny's eventually gonna make his money elsewhere. Get ready H-town, Houstons gonna eventually have one of the best front courts in the game w/ griff and ming.

How can you say that? How do you know that Mo Taylor is as good as he is ever gonna be? I dont know if you know this or not, but Mo is still young!

Besides I could say that KT is never gonna get better than he was last yr, everything he did was on a team that was injury riddled he was the only healthy guy that had regular time the year before, So could that have been his best year? Honestly I dont know, and neither do you!

Possible C/PF rotation looks like this:

    C- Yao, Cato, Collier, Taylor
    PF - Taylor, Thomas, Griffin

I think Mo's value here is that he's the only guy that can rotate at C/PF since he's played behind Hakeem before. Eventually, EG will be able to but he doesn't have the size right now. Most likely, they would rather have Mo in to help Yao before Cato or Collier. What do you guys think?

Actually, I believe both KT & EG have played spot minutes at the 5.

IMHO, in Yao and/or Cato's absence it will come down to defensive matchups. If it's Shaq, then Collier or Mo get the nod. If it's Vlade, probably Mo or KT with Griff getting minutes against Webber. If it's the Mavs, EG is probably a better match against Raef or Dirk and maybe even Bradley.

The Spurs would be interesting. Do you run Mo and Collier at the admiral and try to stop Duncan with KT and EG? Either moves Duncan a little further out when he's on D.
