I think KT would get the same type of deal Najera would get despite Kenny being a slightly better player (better offensively but lacks the size Najera has). You must remember that Najera's agent is Dan Fegan aka "The Devil", this is the same guy that got Shandon Anderson 8 mil a year. Also, Mark Cuban doesn't mind exceeding the luxury tax and pays all his players well.
Mo has a versatile offensive game that cause him flexiblity for dribbling . He come that mode of 6"9 -7"0 footers that would shoot over you or trick with the fake dribble than a power move. He has not been taught how to play good defense. It the thing Tim Duncan has that Webber does not. KT has it but he 6"5 at best watch closely next to Cat you will realize his size
Who starts between MoT and Kenny? Well whoever can do the most to help the team win. I think if Ming is starting at C then Kenny will start because Kenny does not need the ball to be effective (he will rebound, expend energy on D). However if Cato is starting then Mo starts without a doubt. Why? Because we would need another scoring option to go along with Stevie and Cat. I really doubt if Mo will start if Ming is playing. Ming gives us a third offensive option and we could use the offense that Mo occasionally brings on the bench.
I have hopes for Mo, but only 'hopes', not confidence. KT could be the next Corliss. Really! (Man, wish he were EG tall not Sir Charles Barksdale short...

Originally posted by rimbaud Didn't the trade for TMo also lose the bet for you? It was draft or trade for a new SF, right. TMo even started...
I don't think so. Rudy would have had to announce TMo ahead of Langhi by the start of the season. Langhi got injured, then did his big whine, and got bench forever. tough call.
HeyP, Ming won't start the first game of the season because he won't be here. He'll be in the Asian games until mid to late Oct. Even once he gets back, he won't start until he learns the system. I believe once he's back for a couple of weeks, Cato will have some injury and Ming will come in to start permanently.
Someone on the board said Ming wil be here by Oct. 15. So he'll not only be here for thr first game, but for almost all of the preseason.
The thing about trading KT is that he'll demand as much money as Mo when his extension comes up. I think Mo has much more room for improvement than KT, and fits in with our offensive scheme AND our teammates much better. KT has most of his points off ISOs. Mo does have some plays set up for him in the 1st, but after that, he normally doesn't have to demand the ball like KT to score. KT's jumper is not as good, his handles are not as good, and he is undersized. He was still playing excellently last year, and his trade value is really high. Although Mo is overpaid, how many players are not? I think we should trade KT, but having a "glut at the 4" isn't such a bad thing, when they all bring something different to the game and our 5 spot is pretty unproven.
KT at SF is a disaster waiting to happen. No way can he play that position. Mo is a credible ball-handler, much better then KT, and would be a better fit at the SF spot. You don't have to be super fast to play SF. Look at guys like Rick Fox and Donyell Marshall. Guys like Rasheed and Garnett, even Dirk played the SF spot. Mo could fit in perfectly there, he has a perimeter game, he has the quickness (even after the injury he should be quick), and he would instantly become one of the best rebounding SFs. I always thought the future starting frontcourt would be Mo and Griffin. This line-up is flexible, tough, and big. As for Ming, someone (I believe windandsea), posted an article saying that Rudy would start Ming from day one but just wouldn't force feed him.
Tozai you just let me see the light. I never realized how diffrent they fit into the offensive plans. I agree with everything you said, exept for your signature.
Rice, Thomas and Taylor are all close to the same height. Different games. I don't think Rice is much, if any, quicker than MT or KT. It is a versatile threesome. I think it doesn't matter so much who starts, it's who finishes. I like the fact that we have SF-PF versatile players like KT,MT and EG. The west is loaded with versatile big forwards that can cause matchup problems. We will need all the height and versatility we can have/keep.
NIKEstrad, good post. i'm agreeing on a lot, especially your insistence that Achebe is a twit. I tend to think of Mo as a Glen Robinson type 3-4, where Kenny's advantage resides in more his complete game, and tenacity. Mo has a tendency to disappear in games, when the offense isn't clicking. I think it'll come down to who meshes better with an offense that features Ming and ball movement. They both pass well, so I'm jazzed. As for trading, Mo's contract seems much easier to move for value, imo. I'm completely opposite the idea that it is easier to move Kenny's for equal value.
Originally posted by NIKEstrad I fully expect to see Rudy try some 3 guard-he has to at least be curious what 3 guards plus 2 dynamic erasers like Ming and Griffin can do with the zones.
On the quoted point, I don't expect the 3 guard lineup to be with Griffin and Ming for this year, unless Ming simply meshes immediately with the guards. I expect the Ming lineups to be more traditional, at first. I don't see anything wrong with it, and am in favor of that lineup, but I think Rudy will use the 3-guard lineup more when Cato is in the game or when Ming gets in foul trouble and we go with two PFs, like Griffin and Mo.
Generally speaking. . . .competition is good for a team. . . .and when you have competition for a given position. . . .I think it will have the effect of elevating everyones game. . . Rudy found a way to use Moochie, Cutiono and Frances effectively together. . . . considering the possibility of injuries and considering the possibility of creative combinations. . .I'd like to see a lot of all the players. . .like Eddie, Mo & Kenny, I'm also a firm believer that Cato will be a far more productive player this year with the presence od Ming. . . .I also expect Cato to be the starting center. . . .with Mo, Francis, Mobley. . . and. . . .? well I don't know everything. . .
Whose going to be the 3rd guard though. Mooch? Oscar? Tierre? I'd much rather have a true three than having to put Tierre running the show.
Where's the poster known as BTM who said Mo couldn't get to 260#'s until the February trade deadline? Hate to say "I told you so" but "I told you so".
If I were Les/CD, I would think about MoT and Collier for Derrick Coleman, and then cut Coleman. This would be a pure salary dump to keep from paying the luxury tax next year. I am sure this would not be too popular of a trade, but it would make sense financially. Also, it would free up money to sign KT to a modest backup contract. This is if KT and MoT end up roughly equal in talent. Otherwise, I would just let KT go when his contract is up at the end of the year.
