He had some handles, I believe it was Calvin that said, Big men want to be smaller and small men want to be bigger, I think it was in refernce to Mo trying to go between his legs dribbling

Yeah, I seem to remember something like that. I just have one memory of him crossing between his legs and driving. I don't know why.

Well he would even cross between his legs before he would take a jump shot on some plays, I seem to remember that

I think Mo starts. I don't believe in someone losing their starting spot due to injury. Not only that, but Mo is a much better player than Kenny Thomas, plus he also has about 2-3 inches in height advantage, which always helps when you're playing power forward. I think Kenny will be the odd man out, but I hope the Rox just don't give him away for nothing.

I want to see the thread where everyone gave up on him once he tore his ACL.

You will see that I posted that he would come back better than ever. (must have been a lucky guess)

I won't even bring up the thread about his so-called weight proplem.
    Got Heart?

I really don't care what these players say anymore. I really could care less if he got any skinnier this summer. I want to see him play. I want him rebounding. I want to see him bringing it to the floor every d@^^n night. Then when he says he owes his improved performance all to losing all that weight, I'll give him an applaud and get excited. I want someone to bring us to the playoffs and bring home a ring..... I hate spending the offseason not being able to gloat about the rockets!!! I miss the Dream glory days....

The last few years Dream was here he would cross the ball between his legs on nearly every shot he took.

amen, tycoonchip. let's see the guy play. I can't believe people are already saying he's going to be better than ever. he's got a sweet shot, but we really need this guy to hit the boards hard. I wouldn't even mind him being fat if it meant taking up more space in the lane and pulling boards.

on the positive side, weight loss probably means he doesn't have the munchies so much anymore.:p

Aw man, tough choice. I'd like to go with Mo, but Kenny's been so impressive.

It doesn't matter though. Hopefully by this time next year we'll have a without a doubt starting PF. Long live GRIFF!

It is a headache for the coach when a team with too many young talented players like the Rox :D

Last year, there was talk that Maurice was asked if he'd be willing to play some Small Forward. He said sure, anything. This was before the draft, while we were still considering going after Webber. Maybe this is a sign of Maurice continuing to get slim enough to play some 3 and 4 for the longterm.

    That's what I want.

My dream Rockets GM moves forget about Rice and look further out to the inevitable day where Nach is the only SF (TMo sucks) and Griffin grows stronger and can back up Ming.

That gives Nach, Mo and KT all 25 minutes with Griffin logging 35. That's a rock solid 8 core players, imo.

but then, Doc Rocket did say that either Mo or KT would be gone in January. :(

I don't know who I'd rather see go. Kenny seems like more of a natural role player. So maybe I'd rather see Mo go. But... It'll be a tough desicion when time comes.

heyp, unless Mo is seriously a god, then I don't see him staying on the Rockets. We don't "have to" trade Kenny this year, around January. There's no impetus. Why would he be traded? To shed Rice's contract a year earlier? To acquire a longer term contract? I'm dubious. As a toss-in to get rid of Cato? I'm ultra dubious... Cato is cheap for the Rockets, who have Ming @ rookie scale during the bulk of Cato's contract.

Mo's redundant. Griffin is the future. Kenny is a great backup. Mo has a contract that simply doesn't fit in. If someone "has to" be traded this Dec/Jan... it's obviously him.... (I can't see KT's cheap contract an evil for the Rockets... aside from some random trade for a great young rookie... ??? who ??? noone.)

But Mo will start game six you twit!!! BET ME!!!

btw, if Rudy hates Cato... which is plausible, I retract my theory.

    Achebe,

Lemme see if I follow. Cato makes more than a newly drafted #1 pick, plays the same position as the new pick, and therefore is "cheap." wh-huh? I kind of barely see what you mean if you alot a certain amount of $$ for each position.

I think if Cato was cheap in any way by anyone's standards, then he wouldn't be the target of so much abuse on this BBS. I actually think he takes too much s#@t here, but in any case, he's making a lot of $$.

Achebe, I've made two bets this Summer. #1: Ming will start for the first home game. #2: We will not trade Kenny this summer.

Those are in the bank. And last summer's is a SCORE, until they traded for Rice....grrrrrrrrrr...which never would have happened had the whiney b**** Hakeem not met rockHEAD at Wholefoods.

Kenny starting over Mo is not a bet. The "bet" was about Mo 100% demolishing Kenny, which would make Mo a true Western PF stud, or would mean Kenny has declined in skills suddenly. The bet is not about The Cat saying that Mo is a better rebounder on 48 minutes, you twit.

OK, now that the fun bets are outta the way, if we trade Mo, what position would you trade him for? The great thing about trading Mo is he has no BYC complications, and has a semi-stud salary. We could land a solid vet for him, with a draft pick, imo. What position, though?? Why trade him for a SF, when KT and Mo might both be able to back up Nach. That is: Nach starts and KT/Mo log 25 minutes as SF backups and as SF/PF combo's when Griffin moves to Center to spell Ming. KT/MO and Griffin on the floor together is an outstanding way to spell Ming. That's the running line-up.

So you trade Cato for a vet big guard, instead. Trading our versatile, proven PFs just makes no sense to me. Malik Rose is a SF, Glenn Robinson, and so is Rick Fox for Smeggysakes. KT and Mo can play some small forward, and Griffin can back up Ming, and we trade Cato!!!!!!!!!! or we trade Maurice. I agree: trading Kenny is foolish, since you cannot get fair value back.

My guess is that Mo will start like Kenny Smith used to start.

Didn't the trade for TMo also lose the bet for you? It was draft or trade for a new SF, right. TMo even started...

I think that's pretty high expectations. Mo wasn't the quickest guy pre-injury; he put on weight, go it back off, and we have no idea what the additional weight/injury did to his quickness. I'd think KT has better lateral movement than MoT, and therefore the better candidate to be the hybrid 3/4, no? I've considered 5 a more likely second position for Mo than the 3.

I'd keep T-Mo around as extra depth, and he makes a good cheerleader. I see Nachbar as the eventual "only SF", but backed by either a hybrid KT and/or Mo, and a 6-6/6-7 Shandn Andersn clone swingman, without Cuttino waving him off in the post, Stockton making him look good, and the Cato-style contract.

I fully expect to see Rudy try some 3 guard-he has to at least be curious what 3 guards plus 2 dynamic erasers like Ming and Griffin can do with the zones.
