RT45, while those sources may say that, like the poster said, nothing is official till the ink is on the contracts and such. I'm convinced if it's not Taylor then we are going all out to get someone that will be on an equal par with Taylor. That exception is still being eyed by many teams still awaiting to make changes to their rosters. Just like it has been stated before....Quote , unquote..... Just because it is not out in the press like this KING KONG trade stuff doesn't mean there are not behind-the scenes movement going on with other teams. Last years blockbuster , largest of all NBA trade for Francis was known about by one poster if I remember correctly and most of us gave him hell for saying that. There may not be anything along that scale coming our way this time but we are trying to shore up a capable PF with that 4.5 mill exception , at the same time a player that makes sense for us without getting raped by having to give up too much. Nomar, i am sorry but I do not remember. He was at a mall and was walking behind or along some guy in the mall that was on a cell phone. Apparently he overheard the conversation that this guy was having and Francis and the Rockets were mentioned in the same sentence. I am not sure if anyone ever concluded if he really did hear a conversation like this or he might have been a bona-fide "inside" source and just used the story to not give who he really was away. About a week or so later, everything came about with the trade and such. Whoever he was, he was right on the money. No one else seemed to know anything on these boards until this guy mentioned this and then when it went down officially. That's why I think when something happens, it will happen and we will hear about it then or after. For instance, we did not know Mo or even Taylor was in town till later that night. It was reported on the radio (610AM in Houston) that Taylor has been talking with Houston today. What their sources are, I don't know. The Chronicle did say that the Rockets talked to Taylor a couple of times and he hadn't yet made up his mind. 610AM may just be rehashing that bit of news, or those talks could be more serious. ------------------ "There's 1,000 different things we're looking at, but there's not a lot of things there," he said. Maybe this is a rumour too, but I heard that Dallas wants in on the deal and they want to land Laettner.... I don't know the details of what will happen, just heard they were interested.... ------------------
Dallas really confuses me. They resign Gary Trent, draft Etan Thomas, trade for Donnell Harvey, and also have Dirk Nowitzki, all of which play PF, and 3 of them (all except Dirk) PF is their main position. They want Laettner too? Anything other than cap room in their heads? Probably not. They're just stockpiling talent I suppose. They still, and always will have a stick of a center though. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
I'm in Mexicoville, and even the radio stations down here are obsessing about Mo talking with Houston. Heard about that Laetner thingie too. Don't know why Dallas would be interested. Did Laetner actually develope a game this offseason? Whenever I think of Laetner I think of that Minnesota debacle and how he was traded cuz he dissed Garnett. HAHAHAHA. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
I don't think Mark Cuban actually cares how much he has to pay anyone, he's just trying to get the best players he can and after he's got a bunch of talent he'll get Nellie to make some trades to build a contender - I guess he wants to have a Portlandesque team which is loaded at all positions..... the only flaw in his plan is getting Nellie to make the player decisions... ------------------
My guess on why Dallas would want Laettner is his contract is up next year so with Laettner(6 mil.), Bradley(8 mil.), and Ceballos(4 mil.) all free-agents next summer, that gives Dallas a lot of cap room next offseason to go after Webber or Mutombo. ------------------ You ain't gotta like me, you just mad cause I tell it how it is, and you tell it how it might be.
