one of the commentators made an interesting remark, something to the effect of, "you can't get upset at your receivers for dropping balls when you've been inaccurate yourself." last night, Vince was pretty much on target. but the guy is right, Vince's performance this year hasn't even been mediocre. the TD to INT ratio is ugly.
no link, he said he lost to the broncos and the refs basically. can't say stuff like that. he was frustrated he's young, but he's got to control his emotions.
Definitely. Another thing is that he's basically never had an extended period of difficulty or failure in his entire athletic career before this. He'll have to learn to deal with some of that.
That wasnt an acceptable excuse with Michael Vick, so why should Vince be an exception to the rule? Young showed me something tonight by actually passing the ball, but he needs to run less. Its going to end his season and shorten his career one of these days...
To be fair he also didnt throw his receivers under the bus after the game. if you heard those comments, i dont recall verbatim but basically said cant dwell on it and he lets them know he still believes in them and will keep throwing to them. also not sure who else heard the segment about him and his father and how that is weighing in on him...
Say what you will, but from the parts of the game I saw, his receivers let him down...Granted, he hasn't been consistent, but when he's on, his receivers need to be on too...
Awesome game! Broncos hopefully turn things around now and make a playoff push. If we only had a D-line that could put some pressure on the QB that would be most helpful - hmmmm sounds familiar. Cutler played a gutsy game. Reminds me of Favre out there (obviously not there yet) - hes going to be one of the premeir QB's in the NFL .
That's just crazy. Not that Cutler hasn't been solid to good for the most part in the system/players around him, but you replace VY with the Cutler and that score is bigger in favor of the Broncos. VY needed all his legs and arm to keep the Titans in the game for a while despite that sieve of a defense and special teams they put out there. No not for a second do I think there is buyers remorse for the Titans despite VY and their whole offense's struggles this year. At least the past 2 weeks should dismiss this idea that Tennessee has anything close to a great defense (and last year they were among the worst).
Yeah, losing their run stopper had nothing to do with how their defense has played over the last two weeks.
Cutler is from Indiana. Titans fans as a whole are University of Tennessee fans, not Vandy fans, so Jay was not a home town hero. However, the Tennessean wrote an editorial on Tuesday basically stating that Cutler is the best QB in the 2006 draft, so there is some Jay love going on there. He is progressing faster, and they both are dealing with new receiving corps so you cant say Jay is benefiting from that. Get Javon Walker in there and Cutler should look even better.
Cutler looks "decent", but that whole draft class was way overrated, probably the most overrated draft ever. Leinart is a joke, Bush isn't what everyone thought he was, VY had some things go his way and he looked like the best last year, but in reality it appears that VY isn't all that great of an NFL QB, that draft turned out to be a joke and everyone was going nuts over it.
i don't know what's more ridiculous, your analysis of the individal players or that you've labeled a draft class a joke after a season and 10 games.
Brandon Marshall is certainly a lot better than any receiver on the Titans roster. And Rod Smith and/or Javon Walker have also played in a number of Cutler's games as well. Cutler also had the same rating last year as this year (yes better than VY's both years), but his team has a 7-8 record over that span and VY's team has a 14-9 record. And if someone wants to argue Denver has less overall talent, a worse offensive coach, or a harder division--go ahead. Consider Brian Griese and Jake Plummer have had 90+ ratings in that system. Overall, I am sure the Broncos are still very happy Cutler was in range for them to draft. But I am equally sure Tenn would stick with picking VY.
I don't buy that, Cutler made some throws downfield VY wasnt making, specifically plays on rollouts where he had to hit guys way downfield. VY was very innacurate throwing the ball on the run and hitting guys on slants.
He was there the first half of last season and they were terrible defensively. He helps, but one player doesn't make a defense. And actually their schedule was getting easier starting last monday night, their only opponent with a winning record post Jacksonville is the Colts. But Tenn is an overachieving bunch, if they play crappy defense and give up lots of TD drives like versus the Broncos and Jacksonville they are not going to be successfull much. Yeah, that draft sucks. Signed Mario Williams, Vince Young, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, AJ Hawk, Jay Cutler, Joeseph Addai, Laurence Maroney, DeMeco Ryans, Jones-Drew, Brandon Marshall, Mark Anderson, Marques Colston, etc.
Cutler was good, and also got the benefit of Marshall outwrestingly guys for balls. VY was very accurate for the most part. Even one of the incompletions they critized of VY hit the guy's two hands and was a very modest adjustment. VY arm looked very strong too (as did Cutler's). Ask Peyton Manning if having receivers who make hard, predictable, cuts, who adjust to the ball in flight, and know body positioning, makes a difference.
