Yeah, if only they had played games against playoff teams like the Colts, Cowboys, Chargers and Browns, that would give a better indication of how they would perform in those situations.
that holdign call on watson on fourth down to keep the drive alive was one of the weakest calls i've seen if that is holding then every single throwing play in the nfl is holding..(unless there was another angle but the replay they should didnt show anything) watson was not dragged down either he was hit but this was already after the ball was tip and it was the ravens player who was jumping up to try to pick the ball off to that hit him and knocked him down. even jaws was saying how ticky tack that call was in such a crucial point in the game.
And the player that tackled him, who was that...? Yall know who "(Who) Mike JONES!" "(WHO MIKE JOOOOOOOOOONES!"
so the pats get stuffed on 4th but baltimore calls a TO. then they get stuffed buy the patriots save themselves with a false start. then i knew brady would run for the first down with the defense flushed out. then brady gets a pass tipped (which i figured would be the only way to stop them) and it goes a mile in the air and isn't caught. then the ravens stop them only to get a weak ass holding call while brady is throwing into triple coverage and has no chance on the pass anyway. the officials just give them the game. and then i don't know how they said gaffney had control there? did he not transfer the ball from one hand to the other and obviously not have complete control? how is that control? of course reed's pick where he fumbles after the long return and then the disastrous possession where figurs returned it to the 25 and they don't score cost them. i knew that would happen there. since the ravens scoring could mean they actually had a chance, i knew they'd come away with no points, even though they'd been gashing them with the run all game. so of course they then get stuffed twice, then get a penalty to get out of FG range and then boeller pulls a feeley and throws a horrendous pass for the pick instead of just getting 5 yards or so for a field goal try. i was smart not to get my hopes up at that point b/c someway, somehow the pats were going to win that game, whether by skill, luck, or refs fixing the game.
after seeing the replay on sportscenter again, there is just no way they can say gaffney had that ball. even van pelt and mayne both didn't see how they could call it a catch. not that it was 4th down or anything, but adding that on to the almost unbelievably holding call that had all the marks of biased, lets keep the streak alive officiating just makes you shake your head. the ravens could have done more to get a first down some time in the last 10 minutes or so but that call was terrible.
good **** i just watched there, i am not the biggest football fan but that was entertainment at its finest...
How about the offensive pass interference that was not called on the last play of the game, bad calls go both ways.
It should be pointed out that the Ravens also had two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties called against them on that play... which would've given the Patriots a first and goal on the 1, had it been overturned. I know that's not your general point, but highly unlikely it would've made any kind of difference.
Did y'all watch the post game with Brady? They asked him about the 4th down where the Ravens called a time out. He said that he heard the whistle and stopped. Then he said that he would have gotten the first down if they didn't blow the whistle and then started laughing. It was pretty funny.
well if they had scored a TD, then that non-call would be a huge deal, but it didn't make any difference. that holding call turned a sure turnover on downs and running out of the clock into a continued possession and eventual win.
