Last night I put ham, swiss, lots of baby spinich leaves and a grilled potabello mushroom on whole grain bread with dijon white mustard, fig preserves and some ground pepper. Grill it on the Foreman Grill for a minute or two and you're golden.
Lately I've been having the egg salad on toasted honey wheat with lettuce and tomatoes from Murphy's about twice a week.
Those Vietnamese sandwiches are badass. There is a great place off of Bellaire that I pick a couple up at every chance I get. Quizno's classic Italian are also pretty tough to beat in a pinch.
club sandwich on a kaiser roll at The Little Deli in austin. i, too, like the vietnamese sandwich with the char-grilled pork and pate. yum.
Boars Head corned beef on rye bread with cole slaw, russian dressing, and a very thin slice of red onion. Word to your mother!
i don't get the boar's head love. very mediocre. anywho, there are too many great sandwiches in the world so i'll just name my favorite american sandwiches made from beef, in no particular order: hamburger, brisket sandwich, pastrami on rye (housemade from, say, katz's, for example), fajitas
Treebeards in the Tunnel used to make an incredible Muffaletta. Olive salad straight from French Quarter. I heard they don't do it anymore though. Outside of the actually eating at Central Grocery, this would be my favorite sandwich. Another place that closed down that had a great sandwich was Palace Cafe, right across from the Lyric Center. They made a turkey on rosemary focaccia bread with spring mix, feta, cucumbers, onions and sundried tomato pesto that they served with a pine nut pasta salad. We still make that at home.
I'm making up a sweet/dessert sandwich(gotta wait for my loaf of bread to cook) that I sort of got off of my dessert sub idea. I don't know if it will be good or not, but it's a rice krispies theme. I just randomly made the recipe myself.
There are so many different sandwhiches I like it's hard to pick....chicken, ham, turkey, roast beef, peanut butter and jelly, I could go on forever.
woah!!! my man. what a call, what a call. am partial to the Darrell's special with jalapeno mayo, but any friend of D's is a friend o' mine. i need to eat there now.
