I can't believe I didn't see this, but those of you wanting the Lesnar/Carwin fight got your wish. They'll fight at UFC 106 on November 21. Carwin's fight against Cain Velasquez in UFC 104 has been nixed in favor of this. http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/lesnar-carwin-to-headline-ufc-106-19217 http://www.mmamadness.com/2009/08/shane-carwin-gets-title-shot-verses-brock-lesnar-at-ufc-106/
Shane is the only guy that can match Brock's size and power but I don't think he can match Brock's speed and skill. Unless Shane gets a lucky, clean right hand right to Brock's chin I see this fight going the way of the Heath Herring fight where Brock is pretty much controlling and dominating the entire fight. I don't see Brock getting out-gameplanned, his coaches and trainers are top notch.
The only way Brock is going to lose is if his opponent gets lucky and knocks him out. No one is gonna stop someone that big and that athletic. He's also got world class wrestling skills. Once he takes you down, game over. Spoiler
The obligatory saying is... "Carwin has a punchers chance." Contrary to popular belief I think Carwin is the better striker (more accurate, faster, and heavier hands) but if Brock gets Carwin to the ground and gets on top it's gonna be bad news for Carwin. I'm excited for this fight cause not only does Carwin have good size and strength he also has a natural wrestling background. The longer the fight stays on the ground the better Carwin's chances.
That TKO against Gonzaga looked kind of weak though. Its at about 1:30 <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/rsGpNKzGxG8&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/rsGpNKzGxG8&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> And he looks a lot smaller than lesnar despite only being 10lbs less. But at least he's got a successful college wrestling background.
He'd better learn to move his head and protect his left side because if Brock hits him like that...he's done.
