I first saw him on the youtubez when they paid some guy to play football with him. That was funny. He hurt that man. I laughed.
You watch a fight to see people get ****ed up. Isn't that the whole point here? Are you "purists" telling me that you watch the fights to see the technical aspects of the differing styles and you don't care about a crushing knockout or something? I know the more you know about fighting the more you can appreciate it. I suppose its like a casual baseball fan who hates seeing a 0-0 game going into the bottom of the 8th inning. Again I'm completely ignorant on the subject, I do not follow fighting at all. Just trying to get some perspective here.
Hmmm...I wonder what the ratings for the Kimbo fight were compared to the highest rated UFC match in its history? Yes, Kimbo Slice pisses purists off b/c it's painfully obvious that he is a bush-league fighter at best. BUT the guy's story is freaking amazing and is the essence of the American Dream, especially for this generation. I mean, strip club bouncer-pornstar bodyguard turns into an internet sensation and suddenly is on national TV? If someone made a movie about it, we'd be like, "c'mon, that is just SO unrealistic!"
From wrestlingobserver: The show did a 2.7 rating in prime time based on the fast nationals. The final rating will be higher because that number only counts 9-11 p.m. The peak half hour was a 4.7 for Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson and that was after 11 p.m. and will blow away all marks for the most-watched MMA match in history. Nothing but Saturday Night Live ever does post 11 p.m. numbers like that. Full ratings will be out on Tuesday but it's likely to be in the 3.0 to 3.3 range depending on what the 11-11:30 p.m. half hour did. The overall number isn't necessary through the roof, but is a definite success. The growth from start-to-finish was the real story. It was No. 1 for the night in 18-34 and 18-49 as well as all male demos.
These numbers are meaningless when comparing last nights minor league bouts to UFC. UFC is PPV, last night was available to anyone with a TV. If it helps gain more popularity for the sport, I'm all for it though. MMA is the BEST sport on TV in my opinion.
well, he hasn't fought in the ufc since 2005. He looked like he was way out of shape when he beat Kimbo. Calm down. I'm actually rooting for Kimbo cuz he has six kids. But, I don't see it happening for him at that age. Relax.
man kimbo looked out of shape and tired. thompson owned him on the ground and kimbo go lucky he was able to stand back up. wtf was up w/ thompsons ear? im glad kimbo poped it for him. imo they shouldnt have stopped the fight.
