^^ I think he meant earlier in his career with the Blue Jays. The incredible part is that he is in the LATTER part of his prime.
I meant throughout his career.....he's only played ONE season for Philly, the rest were spent on a mediocre team. At times he didn't get the run support in Toronto because the team would get complacent with him on the mound.
What is being lost in all this...Doc has thrown TWO no-hitters in one season, first guy since the express in 1973.
Fantastic game tonight, great first day of the playoffs. I really miss playoff baseball, the Stros are hopefully only 2 years away from contending.
Yanks/Twins post-season series reminds me of the Stros/Braves series of the late 90s and 2001. The Twins can never catch a break even in a new ballpark, they have to fear these matchups.
God I ****ing hate the Yankees. How can anyone like this team. I remember when they came to Houston, I'd be up getting a drink and couldn't even tell what part of the crowd was cheering either the Yankees or the Astros. Yankee fans are the epitome of bandwagoners and not true fans at all. Cheering for a team with a constant payroll of 200+million dollars is not being a fan.
I've honestly grown tired of rooting against the Yanks, it was nice to see them get their ass handed to them in the playoffs through the 2000s. I can't see the Twinkies beating them without Morneau but I think the Rays or Rangers can beat them before the Phillies do.
that's a stupid argument. no one's allowed to be a fan of a team because of how they're run? So one day, if someone takes over the astros and knocks their payroll through the roof to 300 mil, i can't be a fan anymore?
