Damn, the Yankees are done. The Rangers are surprising me. I don't want them to win the first World Series in Texas though. Could care less if they make it.

    Why all the RANGER HATE?

The owner is an Astros legend and the team was assembled from within mostly while giving Hamilton a second chance.

I will cheer proudly for them

2-0 with a 12 point lead midway through the 4th in game 3...it was a beautiful thing.

The Mavs won the 5th game and beat the Spurs in 5 in in 2009. Prior to that, in 2006, they lost games 5 and 6, but then one game 7 in the 2nd round.

In terms of name, Cain is better than Wilson - but in terms of actual performance, they are pretty similar. Cain has a slightly better ERA but also plays in the NL.

Sanchez is definitely better than Lewis. I would argue and Lee and Lincecum are razor-close - both are the type that aim for a shutout.

I'd cheer for them except they are from Dallas, and I can't root for the Astros and Rangers. Even if there is no real rivalry.

And again, don't sleep on that Giants offense.

Their top few hitters don't match up with the Phillies' top few but their GM has pieced together a surprisingly deep collection of hitters. That, along with Posey's quick emergence has quietly made them more dangerous offensively than some people might think. Just take a look up and down the roster. It's kind of surprising when you factor in the bench. Lots of quality, even if not spectacular, hitters providing good depth.

Congrats to the City of Arlington. Their team is nearly in the WS. Just don't pull a Dallas with that 3-1 lead.

Someone should keep Tony Romo and Dirk Nowitzki from attending games unless they want another choke job.

Agree, I gave the nod to Cain because he has been lights out during the playoffs while Wilson has been a tad worse but still close.

Cain has also been pitching at a high level for 5+ years and has pitched 200+ innings 4 times. That's amazing, esp. considering how young he was when he started his ML career.

Wilson hadn't pitched even close to 100 innings before this season. He's far less experienced and proven. He wasn't even a starter for the last 4 years.

Still, even beyond that matchup, there is the 3rd and 4th and even 5th starters to look at, plus the bullpen. You never know how you'll need to lean on your pitching depth, starters and bullpen, and the Giants clearly win in that department.

Then there is home field advantage and the underrated Giant offense to consider.

Ron Washington seems to struggle managing the bull-pen at times.......

    Or is it just me?

Berkman is up after Swisher, he has a chance to really deliver if Swisher doesn't ground into a DP.

Yep, although If Cain hadn't been so dominant in his two starts I might have given consideration to favoring the hot pitcher in Wilson.

That's all true if you are comparing who is better over a long time frame or who will be better a few years from now. But we're talking about one or two starts during a short series. For that, this year's performance is far more relevant than their long-term histories.
