Astros only have about 40 million in salary for next year.

Yankees are going to hand him a blank check in the offseason after he dominates them in the ALCS.

Ok I don't get this about baseball.

Why do they celebrate making the playoffs and 1st round wins in the locker room like they just won the Championship?

To boost morale? You have to consider that they play more regular season games than any other sport yet they only need 7 wins to get to the world series. So each playoff win means they get that much closer to the championship.

Making the playoffs and winning a postseason series are huge deals in baseball. It's much more difficult than the other sports.

The regular season is such a grind and only 4 teams in each league gets in so I can understand celebrating making the playoffs. I do find it a bit odd when teams like the Phillies and Yankees celebrate first round wins.

Yea, it does strike me odd too. They don't really celebrate on the field unless it's a dramatic win but tend to go nuts in the clubhouse. I think it has to do with the rookies and new players who have experienced the joy.

Thanks for the response guys. I can understand that.

Looks like the Devil Rays are going to be broken up already. The Carl Crawford interview was depressing.

I doubt the Rays will miss Crawford that much. They have a loaded farm system, they'll just call up some dude who ends up killing it in the Majors.

They said the Owner plans on cutting the payroll by 20 mil I think.

The fans will definitely miss him even if they do replace him on the field.

I heard through the grapevine, that Carl would actually like to come to Houston to finish out his career here in his hometown.

A friend of mine has a hitting coach that used to be Carl's hitting coach, and he said that him and Carl still talk every so often. And the last time he talked to him he said that hopefully he can reach a deal with Houston. Now please take that with a grain of salt, but if its true then I sure hope that Drayton and Wade aren't that stupid to let Carl go by..

What? Its the fans fault he's leaving, maybe if they showed up to the games the owner wouldn't have to cut the payroll and he might've stayed. Am glad Crawford will be gone, even if am a Rays fan. I hope the Rays move out of that dump and maybe they can keep talent, similar to what the Twinkies are doing

Lucky for them they have Jennings waiting

Well I'm not a big baseball head so I don't know Tampa's situation.

My point was the diehard Rays fans even if there are only 2 of them will miss him.

ehhh...crawford was leaving no matter what. tampa could have sold out every game all season. whoever wants crawford is going to be in a bidding war with the yankees, they cant win that.

I hope they lay off and spend money elsewhere. The 'stros are in the midst of a youth movement...and I don't see Crawford being a logical part of that. Particularly not at the money he'll ask for.

Roy Halladay and Tim Lincecum an instant classic!?

If you were to put money on either pitcher, who would it be?

I'm going with Roy Halladay, another no hitter?!

I'll go with Roy in a 2-1 type game, these matchups seem to never go as planned so we might see a 10-9 ballgame but pretty sure these two guys have it locked in.

    Timmy vs Doc
    Oswalt vs Sanchez
    Cole vs Cain

    DAM, what a series!!!
