Players drop fbombs on the umps all the time. Not an auto-ejection or anything, would have to know what was said.
I wish basball would be on a different channel. I always watch TBS in the afternoon and baseball has ruined that
I'm not watching, but I gather Gardenhire was arguing the strike 3 non-call? If so, coming out to argue balls and strikes tends to be an automatic ejection.
Watching the Berkman at bat on replay, the strike 2 call was a gift, so despite the bad call on the would be strike 3, it isn't like Pavano had actually earned that out.
He went out to talk to his pitcher, but on the way back was ranting about balls and strikes and dropped the fbomb.
Umpires tend to fall back on this when it benefits them, like tonight. The ump missed a pretty obvious third strike and then threw out Gardenhire when he came out to argue his case a bit later. I've seen plenty of times when they don't give a manager the hook as fast as they gave him one tonight. In the playoffs they should understand the intensity is raised about 10 notches and let the manager speak his mind a bit longer.
Rule 9.02(a) Comment: Players leaving their position in the field or on base, or managers or coaches leaving the bench or coaches box, to argue on balls and strikes will not be permitted. They should be warned if they start for the plate to protest the call. If they continue, they will be ejected from the game."
99% it's over. there's always a miracle, and the yanks did blow a 3-0 lead before. but the twins just aren't as potent as the sox.
Timmy looks fantastic tonight, sadly any pitcher who does well this post-season will be measured against Halladay...not fair.
Yup, Timmy got it together just in time for the Giants. Well, he was good for all of Sept actually but you catch my drift. It's a shame they couldn't push another run across after Posey's leadoff triple.
