no problem max. but i'll tell you, as much as i hate the onesidedness of ESPN, i get tired of people saying that they aren't one of the best and most popular teams. the national media reflect what the majority is interested in. i think that's a bad thing, but it is what it is.
Really....I dont think they know how to do it without a little drama (excluding the Cards in the '04 series)...
I can attest the Dbacks were not a great team. They were an average team who overachieved. If I said which was more impressive and better prep for the World Series, sweeping the Phillies and DBacks (with all but 1 of those games kinda close) or advancing through the Angels and Indians in ANY form, I'd take the latter. That said the Rockies are a good team. Pretty solid all around and a great defensive team. Better in middle relief than the Sox. But the Red Sox are better in everything else--better offensively (slight), better starters (huge difference) and better closer. Boston also has enough of a layoff to get the rotation in order--that is all the layoff you really need. I'd pick Boston in 6, maybe 5. If the Rockies can come out with a win in the 1st two however (Beckett, Schilling) they have a great shot at the series. Game 1 is huge, if the Rockies can keep their streak and add Beckett to their victims they will have huge confidence. But if Beckett shuts them down all that mo could be gone and they could get tight. BTW I think both managers are great. I really like the Colorado guy in the interview I heard of him too.
I share your pain. I wasted 4 hrs yesterday. I think they knew the problem after 2 minutes but tried to fix it before telling everyone they f'd up 3 hrs later (at least the earliest news reports I saw were 3 hours after they went on sale). I've read reports today that it works, but VERY SLOOOOWLY. Also, some people make it as far as ordering it, yet they time out when they click to confirm payment. Meaning they made it to the very last step just so they can be frustrated enough to break their computers. At this rate they may not sell out until tomorrow.
i agree. they are one of the best and most popular teams. no doubt about it. but i think it's a bit of a chicken/egg thing...because ESPN helps to make it that way.
I don't think it should matter who are the most popular teams. If you want to show the Yankees/Red Sox/Cubs/insert popular team here games more than other teams, that's fine. But when you're supposed to be a respected part of the media, you shouldn't show bias towards any one team or heavily weight your news coverage towards any one team.
I think Jay Alves, the Rockies spokesperson, is going to hang himself this week. He's just getting killed. He's saying that tickets are moving quickly and are almost sold out now. I've only talked to one person who got through. He had third row tickets behind the right field scoreboard and then the website crashed on him. He lost 'em. I thought he was going to cry.
If I was your friend I would've tipped a car over by now. So do you believe Alves, or is this just publicist talk? I don't know what to believe from them now. I don't want to spend all night glued to my computer.
3 & 4 are sold out, 5 is close to it. My best friend works for the local Fox affiliate and he said the Rockies are notoriously bad at press relations. It's just sad that the die-hard baseball fans in this town, fans that cheered for the Denver Bears way back when, are probably getting shut out of the WS because the Rockies don't know what they're doing.
Yeah, I see the message now on the countdown page. What a horrible PR debacle for Denver. I told my friend in Denver it was a huge disservice to all the residents and local fans there that have supported the team throughout this year and past. What a f'n mess. Boston sold tickets through multiple channels w/out any problems. Buy a clue Alves. And throw the die hard fans a bone by allotting a certain amount of tickets to sell at the box office. BTW, I've never made it past the countdown page today or yesterday.
I'd pick the Sox, too, except that I, like everyone else last year, picked the Tigers over the Cardinals.
