lol I'm a Stros fan, and I'm hurting for this guy... sucks But in the end. He is a MLB pitcher, and is rich... hard to feel too bad for him.

Another look.... not even close Seriously, this ump just screwed this kid over to get his 15 minutes. Yet baseball and the umps union refuses to allow instant replay and doesn't like Questec either... I seriously hope the fans in Detroit riot tonight in reaction to this injustice to the player and fans of this organization....
man, i'll tell you what...after seeing it 10+ times, that baserunner looked like he even pulled up like 10 feet from the bad because he thought he may be safe if he kept motoring through. hence his shock afterwards. rewatch and tell me if you agree.
It basically streams baseball games through your PS3. If you miss a game you can go back and rewatch it. Rewind and fast forward like a DVR. About 110 bucks for the season which is cheaper than MLB Extra Innings.
This incident does present a nice opportunity for one of those "At first I was like... then I was like..." photoshops using Cabrera or Galaragga.
Heard some post game from Galarraga, he said Joyce personally apologized to him with tears in his eyes.
My sympathy for Joyce increased a little. Still an epic fail that a lot of people will have to live with for a while.
i really think they are going to do what's right and say "F the rules" and change it. can't see anybody complaining. like i mentioned though, the moment is ruined
you kidding me? what has selig done in his past to even make you think he'll do something. selig is a joke
I'm not sure they have the power to do that. The game is over. I don't know that the commissioner has the power to change the outcome of a player under the collective bargaining agreement. This is a big deal for this kid personally, but World Series titles have been won and lost on bad calls that were never overturned.
I'll refrain. However, we do know for a fact that since the perfect game call was the 27th out, it truly did cost him a perfect game.
What is the exact rule about a ball that is still moving around in a player's glove in terms of when it is ruled a catch?
wishful thinking maybe. don't know, there's gonna be a lot of pressure on him, and it's an extreme circumstance. nobody doesnt want the kid to lose the perfect game he deserves, and nobody wants the rest of jim joyce's life ruined over a bad call.
Totally agree. The one compromise that I can see from this incident is not instant replay, but the discretion for an appeal. You don't want something like that to happen on EVERY play, but if Leyland was granted a request to have Joyce confer with the home plate umpire, the call would have been reversed most likely. Why? Because the controversy wasn't a bobble or if Galarraga's foot was on the bag; it was simply whether the runner beat the throw. The home plate umpire (or perhaps the second base umpire from his view) would have informed Joyce that the throw beat the runner. I just despise these unwritten bull**** rules with baseball. In a real game like basketball what happens when a ref isn't sure who touched the ball before it went out of bounds? A conference.
