It was so bad, it makes you suspicious. I'm confident it was just a massively blown call but man, what a time for one of the worst calls of the season.
I've never seen anything like that in my life. I can honestly say I saw the worst call in baseball history as it happened. Even my wife, who I had to explain what a perfect game was while it was happening, realized the gravity of that s*** call. They can't give it back to Galarraga. Only he and his teammates know what really happened...and the millions nationwide who saw it on tv. In my book, the kid threw a perfect game.
Wow...I don't even know the pitchers name or who was playing. Not a baseball fan. But man do I feel bad for the pitcher. Saw the whole thing unfold while jogging at the gym and could not believe the call! I would be so pissed. Am glad the Cabrera (sp?) dude was standing up for the pitcher. Looked like some tears swelling up for sure after the game. Can't blame him either. Can the league not go back and change the ruling?
It was the worst because of the situation, but there was a call like 4 years ago where Robinson Cano tagged a runner out at second trying to steal that never even reached 2nd base on his slide and the ump called him safe.
It would be unprecedented as far as I know. It's time to set a new precedent but I'm sure it won't happen.
I would surprised if MLB changed the ruling. In his mind, he had to think that the runner was clearly safe to make that call. Will be interesting to see his comments after the game.
Well, Cabrera misplayed it, but that's beside the point. I still think the players should have carried him off the field even after the final out. Instead they decided to go after the umpire. I know, I know, it's such a rare opportunity, but try to stay level-headed.
Detroit players should do what Detroit players do best. That's walk off the field. Detroit fan should have done what Detroit fan does the best. Set the place on fire.
Bloomquist was stealing second base. Robinson Cano received the throw from Jorge Posada. Ump called him safe. Here's a link. http://whatpushesmybuttons.wordpress.com/2007/05/08/terrible-calljust-terrible/ Yankees ended up losing the game because of the call.
