Great question wekko....the reason I insist it was Morey is because I listed to a podcast he was on earlier in the summer (wish I could go back and find it) with one of the former ESPN hosts and the host flat out asked him how much input Tilman had on the Westbrook trade. He went on and on at how that is a false narrative and he makes the decisions and then takes them to Tilman for approval. He said time and again that he had to convince Tilman this was the best move for the team. He did say that he consulted with Harden during the process and left it at that. He went into great detail at how he thought we were out of the running for Westbrook and then another offer (Minnesota) fell through and he immediately called Tilman to see if he would be fine with us upping the ante (additional first round pick) for Russ. The rest of the interview was oddly about Esports and a team that he and Tilman share together.
I think that falls under "toeing the company line." Owners who get involved in personnel decisions are always accused of undermining the GM and ridiculed for it. Ask yourself this...."did the Westbrook signing seem like a Morey move?" Morey is all about analytics, right? Given that and Westbrook's postseason performance history, why would Morey pursue him?
Like he got Krause fired??? Also mj was and NBA golden boy Refs gave him everything. People complain about LeBron. Mj has famous push offs. Meanwhile silver works against harden. And Hakeem Rocket River.
Possibly true. It is usually glossed over what a good team was built around him....and that he didn't win a thing until that happened. There might be a comparison if Westbrook returned to the form he had prior to the break, but then if that were true, we wouldn't be having this discussion, I don't think. FWIW...I think Westbrook, unlike some on this team get too lackadaisacal, gets too hyped. Needs to calm down, and let the game flow. That's what causes all those turnovers.
