As to the last couple posts: I actually think Jesus would stay out of the politics. Many people of his time wanted him to raise an army and throw Rome out...but he stayed out of the secular politics and took on the religious and social problems of the day, especially to the personal level. If he were here today he would be challenging the various divisions in churches, the various hierarchies of religion, as well as your own personal way of living, in my opinion. Live by the law of the land, pay unto Ceasar, etc. As to Romney: That was dumb. I think we are often overly PC. But that was just dumb.

not cool to not vote for or shake someones hand just b/c of their religion. i would not shake his hand b/c he is a douchebag.
What Moral Code is that? The same moral code that tells me that I should get a death sentence if I work on Sunday (or Saturday if you are Jewish)? The same Moral Code that tells me that I should marry my brother's wife should anything happen from him? If you are going to draw some random **** with loose interpretations from the Old Testament, you might as well draw all of it. You can't pick and choose. Maybe you should go and sacrifice your first born son.
Good point by hotballa. Well, we now know that according to TJ, true Republicans and Christians are synonymous. So, again, the question is would a true Republican Christian (I know, that term is redundant) vote for a follower of the Book of Mormon? Or perhaps Willard Mitt Romney's true Republican Christian-like business deals compensate for these failings?
would jesus torture people? would one of jesus' attorneys argue that there is no law, treaty or act of congress which would prevent jesus from sexually torturing children? (see john yoo)
Except that Jesus was extremely political. At that time there was no seperation of church and state, and everything the temple was doing was done in agreement, or with consent of the govt. They were working with the govt. So Jesus was very much involved in the politics of the day. The area of politics he was involved in was the religious aspect of it. To look at it with today's separation of church and state it might seem like he stayed out of politics. To look at it during the time in which Christ lived, he was very much involved in politics.
interesting point you bring up...i still don't believe Jesus would be interested in politics, but it's still an interesting point.
He may not be interested in it today, I didn't mean to argue one way or the other about that. I just wanted to mention that at the time he was around it wasn't possible to keep church and state separate. Though it might have been that Christ would have been happy had they been separted at the time.
I'm sorry, but I disagree completely. I just can't read Scriptures like Mark 12 or John 18 and believe that Jesus cared much about Roman government or the Jewish beyond being allowed to preach, heal, and help. From Mark 12 From John 18
I didn't read this post before I posted mine. I understand what you are trying to say and agree with you more than I thought at first.
im a christian and more than likely ill vote for a democrat this coming election. so based on my politics and your standards, i dont love jesus nor am i considered a christian?
You don't consider the Book of Mormon to be an "offshoot" (sorry if that is the incorrect term) of Christian beliefs? Analogous to Judaism - Christianity. How many Mormons own a bible vs how many Muslims own a bible. Also I agree that the answer was not PC but he had a point, even though his logic might be flawed. His cabinet is supposed to be the best team not representatives of the people.
Christ would not support the theft from those unwilling to give to the needy. He wants us to choose our paths and then be judged on our choices.
Under the US Constitution straights don't have a right to get married either. That is left to the States.
