Isn't Brewer the dude with the deformed wing and funny shot? Honestly, do you see any of these guys starting for us next year durvasa?
JVG tanking? JVG let Yao play with 5 fouls in the third quarter, which eventually resulted in his early departure. This has never happened in the past, and JVG is one of the most methodical (to a fault, sometimes) game managers in the league. I think either sub-consciously or consciously, JVG is tanking the season. All I can say is, AWESOME! Lose them all!!!
Yes. That's why we need the right Brewer! Corey that is. Corey Brewer --- great taste and less filling!
Clutch, start a petition to the Rockets and ask them to lose every single game from now on. In 2001, we lost something like 90% of our final games. That's how we got Yao. If we want top talent in this draft, we need to tank!!!
Jeff Van Gundy Talks Tanking: [On Yao]: "Yao did a good job relaxing on defense--a great job, actually--but he expended too much energy on the offensive end. 12 of 15 from the field? That's not going to get it done." [On team's attitude] "We're trying to create a culture of losing. It's something I've talked about all year long. Some guys get it. Some guys don't. Stromile, he's someone who's been on the same page since Day 1. And that's why we've brought in guys like Brunson, Frahm, and Bogans." [On Team's Play]: "I think, again, the mot important thing is to know where your strengths lie, and have your players move away from that. Like when it was 102-101 (Rockets lead), Keith (Bogans) could have threw it back into Yao on a repost, but wisely he jacked up a 3, instead. We're just lucky it missed." "Many teams that are going through difficult years, when guys are in contract years like Keith (Bogans) is, would look more at numbers. I'm proud of players that put individual concerns aside, and just focus on the "L." If you crunch the numbers and look at how many close games we've lost recently, you'll see the guys are doing a heckuva job." [On Ryan Bowen] "We're lucky to have him. This is a guy who gives us a chance to lose every night. If we had 11 other players just like Bowen, we'd be in great shape for the #6 seed." "In fact, at this point, I'd have to say that Ryan Bowen is the worst regular-season role-player in the NBA." [On his coaching] "Ultimately, the coach is responsible. If the players aren't responding to the coach, the coach isn't doing his job. I need to do a better job with subsitutions. There's absolutely no reason, for instance, that Yao should be playing more than 14 minutes a game."
Its like that SOuth park episode where the boys were trying to lose all the baseball games but then all the other teams were better at losing. We need Swift and Yao to work on their goaltending, Rafer to step out of bounds more, AND BOWEN, SWeet lord of Mercy, have Bowen play at least 15 minutes a game. And what the hell is up with bogans, he was shooting 2-14 when we still had a chance at the playoffs, and now his shooting is back over 30%, TRY HARDER!!!
Obviously it's too difficult to comprehend that JVG had no choice, and had nothing to lose since they're playing a back-to-back today and Yao needs rest anyway. All due respect Clutch, but this thread sucks.
Oh give me a break.. the ultimate goal is what's best for the team and tanking the rest of the year is WHAT IS BEST FOR THE TEAM.. get over yourself..
i dont think it sucks. you dont always win at all costs. you play some of your younger guys more to see what you have and that in turn helps you in two ways. you see how they play against real nba competion instead of practice or summer league games. which that in turn helps you be able to move up a few spots and have a better choice of player that you think fits your team. so your saying that we should win at all costs and win perhaps 3-4 more games? what will that do for you i cant really think of anything that accomplishes. its not like your instilling a losing atmosphere for the next 10 seasons. i think the other things far outweigh anything that a few extra wins could get you.
Looking around the league, I think our SG problem is easily solvable armed with our 1st round pick, MLE and trade exceptions. PF problem is a different beast.
If we do not get the top 8 picks, put me in for another vote for Corey Brewer. I've been watching the last few game of the NCAA tournament and the guy is solid all around. Especially on defense. His game reminds me of Ron Artest and Scottie Pippens in their early days in the NBA.
I haven't been paying close attention to the Lottery Race, and do not watch college basketball until March and even then not close enough to know who the best players are so I can't comment on the list but maybe you can help since you seem knowledgeable about the players in the draft. Have you taken into account the foreign players (especially those playing in European leagues) and high school players? I know the last 5-8 years have been filled with promising high scoolers and foreign players. Also, there has not been much talk about Spounalis and Badiane lately but they could possibly be on the roster next season (Spounalis more so).
High Schoolers aren't eligible anymore. You need to be 19 and one year removed from high school to be eligible for the draft. And in terms of international players, Bargnani is the only guy projected to go that high.
Bleh, I hate the idea of tanking, although it makes sense. I'd rather them win out and end the season on a great note. No one in this draft will help us immediately anyway.
All these US player, doesn't anyone have any info on possible international players? If there is a dirk or parker or ginobili to be had the rockets would be golden. And what is wrong with losing a few more games? I can not believe all these people who are so bend out of shape over losing the last few games.
Clutch, I agree with your list. It's going to be close. And count me in as someone that would love to have Brandon Roy on this team.
