It's time to start Lampe and Rybo.

And Minny needs to win one game. If we end up tied with anybody, then it comes down to a coin-flip to break the tie.

Nope. According to this draft faq that someone posted, ties for drafting are broken randomly:

    Coin flips are pretty random.

You know what this reminds me of?

Saturday night. The club's closing in 5 minutes. You're Tara-Reid-drunk. Your friends are pissed-drunk. And every hot chick is already paired off with some other dude.

But that doesn't stop you. How could it? As you stagger through the dance floor, you look for any girl, just any damned girl, to start dancing with. The drunker you get, the more girls avoid you. But still you try. You sneak up behind girls, proud of your cleverness, and sorta rub your crotch into their butts.

Only a few girls left. They're all ugly, but screw it. It's 2 am and you're loaded. And you're not going home without sucking face. You're sorta jealous because your buddy is making out with a fattie in the corner, the one you both laughed at when you were sober. Damnit. You coulda had her.

It's 2 am in our Rockets season. And we're stumbling around drunk, tanking, for a draft full of ugly girls.

Not quite right. You forgot Seattle. :) .

    6. GS 31-47
    7. Boston 32-46
    8. Houston 33-46
    8. Minn 33-46
    10. Seattle 33-45
    11. Orlando 34-44

    Assuming we lose out ...

GS will have to win two for us to tie them. Doubtful.

Boston will have to win one for us to tie them. I am not sure that any of their remaining opponents (Cle, Nets twice, and Miami) are still playing for a seed (someone will correct me if I am wrong ;) ), so we have a small chance.

Minn. We are tied, and unless they squeeze out a win against the Pacers, I think we remain tied with them.

Sonics. Our best hope is they win a meaningless last game of the season at home against the Nugs. Otherwise we tie with them.

Orlando. Will win at least one more and possibly three.

    Final prediction:

    6. GS 32-50
    7. Boston 33-49
    7. Houston 33-49
    7. Minn 33-49
    10. Seattle 34-48
    11. Orlando 36-46

So how does the tiebreaker work again? Just coin flips?

So if it's a tie between 3 teams instead of 2, do they have to use a 3 sided coin? :p

I like the Rockets chances in coin flips. ;)

If I am not mistaken, tied teams get equal balls to get into the top 3 (for instance would equally split the balls given to the #7 seed and #8 seed), but have the coin flip determine order if they don't fall in the top 3.

The Dallas-GS game was a mixed blessing. More than likely our last game with SA they will take off because they will have clinched. They will probably play hard the game they have with Minny to get them close to clinching. Hopefully even a half hearted Spurs team with bench guys who want to find their grove and show they deserve playoff minutes/roster spot is still too much for us the last game.

The other game that concerns me is versus Memphis. If Memphis is smart they will try to lose to increase their potential to draw Denver (and maybe even have homecourt as a #6 seed) rather than the #5 seed (at Dallas).

Denver should try to win because homecourt with Mem or LAC is in play.

Really, everywhere from 6 to 10 is very much in play. Losing out is very important. As 5 teams are so close (and GS has very winnable games and I believe both them and Boston will be playing for moral victories) each Houston win probably means 1-2 draft spots lost.

If we can't beat the tanking Wolves, I'm not worried about any of the last three games. 33-49 is in the bag. I hope Memphis tanks the Minnesota game, though.
