Your real job isnt being the DNC chairmen would it? I knew that primordial scream was familiar. Arent you suppose to be prepping for the coming elections?
I agree with everything there, save MAYBE the first and last sentences... and I even agree with those to a certain extent.... I wonder about Rafer, as posted, and I don't hold JVG too responsible for being a detriment by who he plays and how much. I think he likes his job here, see's a bright future for our nucleus, and wants to balance "development" with trying not to appear as though he's not doing his job as a coach.
I don't think a couple of draft spots either way will make much difference - this is not a deep impact draft. And this team needs more then a solid rookie to elevate it to a competitor.
Actually a couple of spots could make all the difference in the world between a potential future starter and a journeyman scrub. I think the draft has an okay amount of solid starter guys, but it's the top of the draft that gets the real criticism - I don't think there is any real franchise guy out there, and there isn't even an obvious pick either, at least not yet.
Can you come up with better way to improve the team's assets in the next 7 days? Ain't no mountain low enough, ain't no valley high enough baby!
no we will revamp the entire team with all of our capspace. didnt you know ben wallace, jason terry, and maggette are coming over dont you???
dammit i want dallas to get homecourt over the spurs. i don't think the warriors can catch us even if they beat the mavs tonight.
how that??? we just lost to portland that lost like 10 straight and a wolves team with out there 3 best players that had lost 14 straight on the road. and the rockets last 3 games are against 3 playoff teams. and tmac and yao are off in the sunset getting surgery and sipping mexican martinis.
With Diop and Dampier in the middle, the only way the Mavs beat the Spurs in the 2nd round is if Duncan is injured. Those two guys just don't give them enough at the center position.
If we lose out (drop the final three), then the worst we can do is a 3-way tie for #8 with Minnesota and Seattle. As for Minnesota -- folks, they are done. They will not win another game, period. @Indiana, then home for Memphis and San Antonio. No way do the Pups win another so the "best" we can do is tie them. Seattle has the same number of wins, but has 4 games left. Clippers, Clippers, Kings, Nuggets -- all playoff teams. Got to hope for an upset in there. Boston is the big question. They have one less win, so they're alone at #7, but they face the Nets, Cavs and Heat -- all East contenders. Here's to hoping LeBron is out that game (this Monday), but not likely at all ... doesn't look like his ankle twist was that serious. I think Boston loses out and secures #7. I would have said Golden State is too far "ahead", but with a win tonight over Dallas, they are just one win less than the Celtics. I still bet they somehow lock #6 up, but man -- they have 4 games left, and 2 of them are a home and away against Portland.
This thread has been an eye-opener for me. I've been surprised who has posted here and by the ones that haven't. There are a few topics that get beat to death here everyday that are completely inter-related. This thread isn't one of those. Be it a coin toss or a few ping-pong balls I'd never bet against this franchise making the most of them. I don't expect Les or JVG to understand or even care about that, but if you've been following Houston basketball for 40 years the karmic wheel keeps pointing back here. Did Yao have to become the best center in the NBA because we drafted him as an overall #1? Yes. He may not quite be there for some of you, but that sound you're hearing is the basketball gods spitting at you. You'll see eventually.
It's possible the T-Wolves could beat Indy. Sorry to say but the the Pacers are having some serious chemistry problems right now. Some of the players seem like they are quitting on Carlisle. They are far and away the most dysfunctional team competing for a playoff spot; even more than the Bulls and Sixers. I'm not worried about the Sonics since they are ahead of us. Plus, I think they will win another game. I agree the Celtics are the big question. Yes they play the Cavs, Nets & Heat but those games mean nothing since the EC seedings are pretty well locked in. Miami is 4 games ahead of the Nets. Maybe they sneak a win against these teams who could be resting their stars. I think the Warriors will beat the Blazers both games and pass us. I doubt very much they finish #6. My prediction: IF the Rockets lose out, we will end up #6. But I have this sick feeling we will beat the Nuggets in Denver, who are dead men walking. Kind of like the Pacers.
10. orlando 44 losses. games left: sa, phi ,chi, ind. 9. minny 46 losses. games left: ind, sa, mem. 8. rockets 46 losses. games left: mem, den, sa. 7. boston 46 losses. games left: nj, nj, cle, mia. 6. warriors 47 losses. games left: pho, por, por, utah. As long as Rockets lose all their remaining games. To get 6th spot in the lottery Boston needs to win twice and GSW to win three more games.
