The Hou-Minny game will resemble the Texans-49ers game at the end of last season. It will probably go into overtime before the true tank hero steps up and throws the ball away.

It is a common injury that can happen to any player at any day, it has nothing to do with the pro-tanking or anti-tanking discussion. If somebody is trying to blame Yao's injury to Rockets not benching him in the game or not tanking the season, then he is definitely clueless.

I wish Yao's best, wish it is a minor fracture, wish he and T-Mac can return next season with 100% to shrug off all these bad lucks in this miserable season.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Somebody should start and over/under poll for that game. I would bet total points is less than 160.

By the way, does anybody know the rules for record tiebreakers for draft order?

i would assume team vs. team record. if thats tied then probably confrence record. no one will beat the rockets on that last one either.

I believe that teams with identical records will have a tie-breaker drawing, essentially a coin-flip between the two teams. For teams in the lottery, the balls for the two picks will be put together and then split, with the odd ball going to the team that won the drawing.

Although it isn't relevant to us this year (except maybe if the Knicks tie with someone), the team that loses the tie-breaker will get the higher pick in the second round.

    I'll illustrate.

Lets pretend that the Knicks and Portland finish tied for the worst record, and we finish tied for 9th.

If the Knicks win their tie-breaker, they'll be first in the lottery with 225/1000 combinations, the same as Portland. If for some bizzare reason neither team gets drawn for a top 3 pick, the Knicks will draft 4th, Portland will draft 5th.
In the second round, Portland will have the 31st pick, while the Knicks will have the 32nd.

Let's say Houston ties with Seattle for the 9th spot, and the Rockets lose the tiebreaker. Seattle will have 15/1000 combinations, while Houston will have 14/1000. If in the highly likely event that neither team gets a top 3 pick, Seattle will draft 9th and Houston will draft 10th.

In the case of a 3 team tie... that's too much thinking right now. Instead, let me refer you to this site:

so at this point we are half a game out of the 7th pick and Yao is done for the season. There is an outside chance we get to the 6th pick.

I think you are right Hi Mana. Some kind of drawing that determines how many ping pong balls for the real drawing.

What a system. Greatest game on the planet. Greatest commissioner in sports, and we get a drawing for another drawing.

You have Boston and Minnesota each winning two more games. Obviously, you are predicting Minnesota beats Houston, but what about the other games? Minny plays Memphis and Indiana on the road and the Spurs and Memphis at home. Boston plays Indiana and the Nets on the road and the Nets, Cavs and Heat at home.

I think 8 is about the best we can do. I do think we will pass Boston but I don't see Minny winning any more - they are in full tank mode.

THE BEST WAY TO SECURE THE HIGHEST DRAFT PICK POSSIBLE IS TO CONTINUE TO LET RAFER HANDLE THE BALL IN THE CLUTCH BECAUSE HE WILL GUARANTEE A LOSS!

The CAPS-SHOUTING is a drag, but he's right about Rafer, who seems to be the biggest proponent of Tanking on the team. Since our near elimination from the playoffs, has ANYONE dropped off more than this guy? And how many times did he dribble the ball last night with 3.7 seconds? Ridiculous.

This was the first thing I've seen anyone on the team do that really called their effort into question. Losing is one thing, TRYING to lose is another... but that's all been said here.

I like Rafer, but this isn't showing any character on his part... last night, or his O-for the night before.... or basically his performance for the last two weeks.

I like to joke around ... but no player is TRYING to lose. It's their jobs, their livelihood. They could care less whether the team drafts 6th or 11th. They may not even be on this team next year. Not only could they not be in Texas, but they could be in New York or Oklahoma or Arizona or California or Oregon or Washington or Michigan. Yeaaaaagggggh!!!

Anyhow, the Rockets themselves aren't quitting or trying to lose.

Myself? I want the "L". I'll make that clear right now (if it wasn't already). But realistically, what the team "should" be doing is shifting the priority from winning to developing. MLB does it every year... it's one of the big reasons for the September callups. Don't see many clamoring or whining there that the Pirates are "quitting" or "tanking".

When I watched Chuck Hayes ball last night, I was ecstatic. When I saw Howard and Wesley shooting jumpers, I was pissed they were going in. It's a waste of valuable NBA court time to play seasoned vets heavy minutes when you have guys like Hayes, Lampe and Head who could use the experience.

My personal opinion only, but I think JVG's pride has cost the Rockets in 2006-07.

Clutch couldn't agree with you more.

Lampe especially, this is a guy that came out highly touted and hasn't gotten much a Chance. Even if doesn't live up to those expectations at least we know. I'd hate to see him end up on another team and start balling because we didn't give him the chance. I thought i was seeing that with stephen graham in cleveland
