This thread is starting to look absolutely ridiculous. Some facts since we traded away “The Mature Mustache” aka Patrick “Patsquatch” Patterson. Here are the numbers with PPat in the rotation as opposed to DMo in the rotation: Teams winning percentage: PPat: .527 DMo: .666 Signature Games against San Antonio and OKC PPat: 0 wins 6 losses DMo: 2 wins 0 losses Offense: Pts per 100 Poss PPat on the Court: 112.1 PPat off the Court: 110.6 PPat Net difference: +1.5 DMo on the Court: 117.8 DMo off the Court: 110.4 DMo Net difference: +7.4 Defense: Pts per 100 Poss PPat on the Court: 109.7 PPat off the Court: 106.8 PPat Net difference: +2.9 DMo on the Court: 104.9 DMo off the Court: 108.2 DMo Net difference: -3.4 Net Points per 100 Possessions: PPat: -1.5 DMo: +10.8 It’s pretty obvious that while there have definitely been some growing pains and adjustments to having two rookie Power Forwards in the rotation, the Rockets have not suffered because of it. As a matter of fact, the Rockets have been better for it. Missing U: Patrick Patterson? Not so much.
Easy schedule for Houston makes for illusion. The team is well rested, at home and beating up on sub .500 teams. There is a reason why all the numbers put up are team's numbers and not the personal production of each player. There is also a reason why you are putting up the numbers for DMo-- who would have gotten the same 20 mpg with or without Pat's trade since Morris would be gone-- and not Robinson. The two rookies simply have been not as good and efficient as Patterson and it is the bad opponents and contribution from the rest of the team that are masking their struggles.
To be fair, the OKC game was all Delfino. Motie hardly played. Just checked and Delfino had 42 minutes that game and Motie had 5. T-Rob wasn't even cleared at the time.
Basketball is a team sport correct. If the team as a whole is performing better with DMo on the floor, regardless of his individual statistics, then it seems the team is not missing PPat as much as some posters would like to believe.
Nice stats, goes along with the team's ORTG and DRTG with Dmo I posted before. Of course this is all after the fact monday night quarterbacking. Some people stick their neck out and make predictions before hand when it was still a foregone conclusion that we got worse. Like this guy: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=7705941&postcount=1890 Of course you can look like an idiot doing that too.
Trade or not, I think we are in the same position - a first round team that may or may not be a tough out.
The only person that misses Pat besides Carl is Omer. He enjoyed how Pats bricks would pad his rebounding.
Well you were saying that the team is in jeopardy of missing the playoffs, easy schedule or not. The team has still beat some playoff teams without Patterson. Because as I've and others have been saying, Patterson is a role player. He's not worth 10 or so games, he's not the big difference here. The other guys that you mention stepping up are the big difference. If Harden, Lin, Parsons all bring it one night it is usually a win no matter who it is against. Patterson was just a role player, some nights he'd contribute and some nights he'd not. The team wasn't dependant on his contribution, they need Harden and either Lin/Parsons/Asik to step up mostly. Morey finds role players in his sleep. This is about getting a guy that could be a bit more than that.
Utah tanking and Lakers bad luck has made the playoff picture easier. But we have managed to not throw away the good luck thanks mostly to Carlos Delfino. I underestimated Carlos' toughness in playing a bigger chunk of PF minutes.
I can see it in your eyes, I can see it in your smile -- you're all I ever wanted, my arms are open wide Cuz you know just what to say, and you know just what to do (not rebound) And I want to tell you so much, I miss you ...
