DALLAS - A frantic, three-day search for a Dallas-area college student came to an end Monday afternoon. Yaseen Ali Abbas, a University of Texas at Dallas student, was found Monday after disappearing Friday morning. Abbas, known to friends and loved ones as Mehdi, was transported to Parkland Hospital in unknown condition. Family members told News 8 Yaseen contacted the family around 3 p.m. Monday and said he had been picked up by paramedics in the Uptown area of Dallas. They were still unsure of his whereabouts over the last few days. Friends and family notified the media, waged a massive social media campaign to spread the word, and planned a candlelight vigil for Monday night. Since Friday afternoon, they set up a command center at their mosque and have been frantically been handing out flyers in far North Dallas. Abbas, 24, had last been seen Friday morning at his apartment off Coit Road and McCallum Boulevard near the University of Texas at Dallas campus. Abbas is engaged to Anusheh Hemani, a graduate student studying communication disorders at UTD, said Michelle Aldridge, a clinical faculty member at the university. Abbas has plans to attend medical school in Galveston. <script src="http://www.wfaa.com/templates/belo_embedWrapper.js?storyid=187778501&pos=top&swfw=470"></script><object name="player" id="_fp_0.4743800056166947" width="470" height="264" data="http://swfs.bimvid.com/player-3.2.15.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"> <param value="true" name="allowfullscreen"/> <param value="always" name="allowscriptaccess"/> <param value="transparent" name="wmode"/> <param value="high" name="quality"/> <param name="movie" value="http://swfs.bimvid.com/player-3.2.15.swf" /> <param value="config=http://www.wfaa.com/?j=embed_187778501&ref=http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/Search-under-way-for-missing-Dallas-college-student-187778501.html" name="flashvars"/></object><script src="http://www.wfaa.com/templates/belo_embedWrapper.js?storyid=187778501&pos=bottom"></script>
Man, that is such great news. I hope he makes a quick and full recovery. He has a good life ahead of him.
The plot thickens. It doesn't look like any foul play occurred. So what really happened is what everyone wants to know.
Could have been binge drinking or a drug OD. Never count out the ones "who you think will never do it" because they are just as likely to be pressured to try it once. Still, it's a good thing he's safe and it can be chalked up as another life experience.
the important thing is that h e is safe. The fact that the family was incredibly quiet about what happens and still maintains privacy despite the fact that so many were out desperately looking for him every day means either: (if no foul play as sammy stated) 1.) O.D suicide 2.) coincidental health problem ex: Heart attack 3.) Sexual abuse If there was some sort of sexual abuse I can see why they wouldn't wan't to say anything openly.
