Quick until he proves that he is the real tmac, everyone just refer to him as mcgrady, tmac is special, mcgrady, well hes just average.
How many shots would you take away from Yao to have the player formerley known as T-mac to get that 20 points? The issue I have is when Yao is scoring at will to get us back in the game, T-Mac feels the need to start pulling up for bricks from long range. The timing and selection of some of his shots is the biggest concern to me.
Did you see how the Suns adjusted their defense after Yao destroyed them in the 3rd quarter. They crowded the paint and made the entry passes next to impossible. So what did you expect Tmac to do? Pass the ball to Luther Head to shoot? Tmac is the other star player on this team so he has done what he was supposed to do under the circumstance. So please don't talk like Tmac was a ball hawk and he intentionally ignored Yao. If you have also watched the last few games, you could see Tmac is the most unselfish player on this team.
honestly, I think Rockets still can get enough wins and make playoff with an average Tmac. But he has to admit/accept he's average deep inside and defer to Yao. Of course, if he can recover to his old self, he can do whatever he wants at will.
how about taking the ball to the rim once in a while? if he has lost it all, passing to Head is not a bad decision at all.
I expect TMac to take the ball to the basket and test the defense. Maybe force them to send an extra defender at him the next time down, opening up Yao in the paint. And it's ball "hog" not ball "hawk". A ball hawk is a player who has a nose for the ball, as far as steals and whatnot.
T-mac needs to be Mr. Fourth Quarter if the Rockets are going to do anything now or in the playoffs. Teams are sending double and triple teams at Yao in the 4th Q to force the Rockets to take jumpers and we are playing right into their hands. You live by the jumper you die by the jumper. When the game gets tight you must drive to the hoop or have a post up game. In T-macs defense the two times I saw him drive to the hoop last night Marion made him eat the ball. He couldn't get around Marion and after that he stopped trying. The only option we have at post play or getting to the basket is V-span, Bonzi, and Snyder. None of these guys are in the game for one reason or another. To fat, broke hand, and one Greek rookie that JVG has no trust in when it comes to crunch time.
we need to give tmac more freedom on the offense. apparently his offesive touch is really streaky and hw only gets 'hot' when he freelances. i can see that mcgrady needs all those pick and rolls to be effective and more free lance pick and roll as well. he really doesn;t have the speed to drive successfully anymore, but he can still be very effective when he gets hot. we need to sacrifice some half court set for the overall betterment of the team. i dun care if we lose one game badly, we just need to sacrifice some wins to get t-mac back on track.
Sacrifice some wins just so Tmac can get back on track? Dude, that is what practice session are for Also, don't get me started on his free throws (.659) ? Something is funky with his J's and freethrow, get that **** worked out and fixed by putting time in practice, but not during game time. If the J's are not falling, then either make plays or attack the baskets!! Just don't keep throwing up bricks when it ain't falling.. that's all. Very simple!!
atleast he can still do 360degrees dunks in 2k7 and high rising windmills in live 07... and everytime i do that, I am thinking if tmac goes to the rim half aggressive as that, houston will go to finals already
There were several times in the game verse Phoenix when we made the third quater run when Yao would run the flex cut to the low block and T-Mac would call him out for the high pick and roll. Two things have happend from here, one which I really like. When Yao rolls to the block, they reverse the ball back to Yao's side and he has great position. This is how they were getting Yao open when the SUns adjusted as you mentioned. the PROBLEM is when T-mac comes off that high pick and roll and heaves a bad shot to the basket without Yao ever getting a chance to get to the low block. T-mac can get that desperation heave whenever he wants, ie: with 2 seconds on the shot clock. In that case it's not a bad shot. When there is 10 seconds on the clock and you break off the Yao pos tplay to heave the shot, then its a BAD decision. I am not saying T-mac is selfish or a "ball-hawk" but he has to know that he is not the guy he once was. Keep feeding Yao and play off of Yao. He will get that same crappy shot once Yao kicks the ball back out o him.
