I just checked the click2houston website. Nothing but murders, shootings, robberies, drinking and driving accidents right there on the front page. Why has Houston become such an unsafe place? Is it related to the garbage that is going on in Mexico right now?
I bet the crime statistics in Houston are just about the same as they've always been, it just gets more clicks on your news site to only report bad things.
It's always been bad...but it's that way in large cities. That's exactly why I don't watch local newscasts
As mad as I am right now just knowing her sister and what a sweet girl she is, if it were my sister or wife, etc, I would hope that they catch him alive so I could go to the arraignment and blow the guys head off outside the courthouse. For me, it would be totally worth it and I'd spend life in jail happily. Situations like this (and many other things) make me really hope there is something after life. It's just not fair. This p.o.s. deserves a slow painful death.
This is horrible. Hopefully her story will inspire other women to be more aware; even when they feel like they're in a safe place.
The Pearland abduction had a motive, robbery. Here, there is no motive (at least not released by the police). Because this happened in daylight in a busy shopping center and no one heard or saw anything, I'm curious if she voluntarily entered the car. Perhaps she knew the killer or if it was random befriended him/her in one of the stores.
This morning, I got an email from one of my sorority sisters at UT. She said she knew Sabrina because she was a sister of Sigma Lambda Gamma at UT. She described Sabrina lovely and extremely nice. Some of people I know at UH knew her as well. How sad. I hope they catch the person!
I have this same feeling. I'm not saying that there aren't people that just flip out and do stuff like this but not usually. Typically there is a reason behind it.
Really? It really does seem like a random abduction to me. I could be wrong, though. Speaking of which, my Uncle just passed away under suspicious circumstances. Rather than post it here, I think I'll start up a new thread.
So how many of you guys went home last night and talked with your wife/SO about what to do if someone tries to force you into a car? I know I sure did. Scary times. I think there's some fishy stuff going on with the Pearland case, but this one just sounds totally random to me. Which makes it even more unsettling, you know?
very sad...I go to the same church as her...I always run errands and shop that the same place she shopped at too on SH249...RIP
Damn right I did. Told her if she got jacked she can give the keys, but never get in the car. Rather run and risk getting shot, cause at least you'll be near people who can dial 911 right away. Her question to me was... what if our son was there and the guy said 'get in the car or I'll kill your son'?
RIP, prayers to her friends and family. Were there security guards in the parking lot? I've noticed an increase in security guards and on or off duty police working in parking lots over the years, but they are all absolutely useless. They sit by the entrance and do nothing. They need to be actively patrolling the lot and maybe keep a guy in a car towards the furthest part where these things are most likely to happen.
Yeah, my fiance and I talked about it. He said I have to be aware when I walk and have my keys & mace ready. I wouldn't have a chance if someone came up to me behind and clocked me on the head. The instructor from my basic hand gun class said that my mace sucked. The maces that are sold by Walmart, Academy and etc aren't that good. He told me where to get a good mace that is used by law enforcement. It is C + G wholesale. I am planning to get that this week. I completely agree. I think DeJesus's case is not random. She was very nervous the day she was abducted. I don't understand why the cops think DeJesus is still alive??? How is that? It seems like Pina case was random. My co-worker said his wife's friend works for Harris County office of Emergency Management who mentioned that this is happening more often.
Update: The family held a vigil last night. I was a little bothered that there was a newsreporter inside the church and interviewed people afterwards. I guess that's the world we live it. But there are active leads. Hopefully, they lead to justice.
new lead in the case hopefully they find the person that did this deplorable crime. Suspect questioned about abduction, murder of Sabrina Pina 10:25 PM CST on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 By Courtney Zubowski / 11 News KATY, Texas -- Detectives got a possible break Tuesday night in the abduction and shooting death of Sabrina Pina. They picked up a suspect at his northwest Harris County apartment around 7 p.m. and took him in for questioning. The 28-year-old man knew Pina, according to investigators. He was still being questioned late Tuesday, but had not been charged. Pina disappeared while shopping in northwest Harris County Saturday. Her body was found dumped on the side of a road in northwest Harris County on a day later. She had been shot. Pina disappeared just three weeks after Susana de Jesus was kidnapped from a Pearland shopping center. De Jesus still hasn't been found. New images were released Monday of a man driving the victim's car just hours after she vanished. The cases have women all over the area looking over their shoulders. Women in Katy are taking steps to make sure they know how to fight back at a Krav Maga self-defense class. "I'd like to know if there is a connection," said Marie Pallatt, a Krav Maga student. "Even after the first one, you know, you start thinking," said Amy Jones, a Krav Maga student. "And then the second one happened and even though they don't want to correlate them, you can't help but jump to that conclusion." Jones hopes everyone will take precautions. "I sent out mass e-mails to all of my friends and kind of correlated 'look what happened these two women innocently walking to their cars in a parking lot'", Jones said. "I was really pleading with them to come and try to make time." If you have any information on either case, call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
Very bittersweet. I had a hard time believing Sabrina would have gotten into a stranger's car without a fight. Extremely glad they caught him, extremely upset why he put all of us in this current situation. Biggest answer he needs to give all of us is why. I don't know as of now who the suspect is but for his sake I hope he didn't show up to the vigil last night. Or maybe if he did, it taught him we weren't going to stop until we got a resolution. We will miss you Sabrina!
