From a Yahoo sports article: The former Rockets and New York Knicks guard harassed Paul defensively, helping hold the All-NBA triggerman to 11 points on 2 for 10 shooting and leveling his game-high 15 assists with seven turnovers. More than that, Douglas also popped off offensively, scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter (5 for 6 from the field and 3 for 4 from deep, including one from really deep) as the Kings blitzed past L.A. to a 38-18 final frame and a 116-101 upset victory in front of a pumped-up crowd at Sleep Train Arena.
Curious to see how Lin and Beverly handle TD's defense. Though I'm sure their used to it during practice before the trade deadlines.
Odds are if we didn't shell out so much money for a PG in free agency, Douglas would've been the starter. A Douglas/Beverley PG rotation would've been amazing. But the owner wants that China money. Can't blame him.
You really have to give it up to our coaching staff for developing these players. I'm happy for him but also not (for selfish reasons).
oh c'mon. TD was doing stuff like this way before he got to Houston. I think he hit 9 three's in one game or something like that. 3pt shooting has never been his problem. he just doesn't know how to play PG.
He's been playing PG great for the Kings. He's a PG. Just needed the right system. Kings fans absolutely love him. The Kings announcers do too. And the Sacramento reporters who cover the Kings have nothing but good things to say about him. Apparently, he's influenced that entire team to start focusing on defense.
He's alot better than Beverley. Better shooter, less turnover prone and just as good on D. Bev is the better passer/facilitator but we really don't need that with both Harden and Lin on the team.
Long term I probably wont miss him at all. He was never going to be a Rocket long term anyways, so might as well use him to get something for the future. He will however, find himself useful around the league for many years to teams needing a solid backup on a cheap salary, or a fill in if their starter goes down with an injury. The backup PG position for this team doesn't have to be someone who comes in the game and drops 20pts in the 2nd quarter every game. You just need someone who can give Lin some quality rest, play solid perimeter defense, and hit the the open 3 when matched up with Harden. Perfect role for someone like Beverly short term. -Long term, I wouldn't be surprised if Morey finds a diamond in the rough either through the draft or trade that could act as a super-sub type 6th man type long term. I think Beverly will suit the backup PG need well in the meantime... he and Douglas will never be that elite 6th man scorer who can dominate the game off the bench. With Brooks, I dont think will be a Rocket next year. His contract is structured to be a nice draft day trade piece. One of the few trade friendly contracts they have with the exception of Delfino. He wasn't really brought in to be anything more than insurance, and the Rockets made him a nice gesture to get out of Sacramento for the remainder of the year, and be a part of a playoff worthy team.
I must say, I really opened up to TG and was sad to see him leave. However, Bev has proven to be just as aggressive defensively, and at a much younger age, he has more room for improvement. Most notably, his shot is 100x better than anticipated when he came to the league. I believe that was his biggest knock coming out.
In his last five games, TD is averaging 9.0 ppg. 2.2 rpg. 2.0 apg. 1.4 spg. on 55.2% from the field 100% from the line and 42.9% from 3-point range in 17.4minutes per game. Very efficient numbers for a backup PG in limited minutes.
