Miss America contestant pursuing double mastectomy

Something I learned recently from the soccer moms in my area is that if you have a preventative mastectomy, it is possible that the cost of "reconstructive surgery" will be paid by health insurance company. Not saying that this is the case here, but it can be a sneaky way to get enhancements....

Read and thought about this issue for a long time today and didn't know how to put it right, but here's my two cents:

Like someone said, it's her call.

I do think that it's a bit aggressive but it's her life. She can do whatever she wants to do.

I had an aunt who was diagnosed with breast cancer (stage 1, i think) and elected to have a double mastectomy. Some people told her that it was too aggressive but ultimately, she made a decision for herself.

 

To me, it ultimately comes down to this:

She will still maintain the ability to have children, she will still maintain the ability to have a healthy and fantastic sex life, and she will still maintain the ability to be a beautiful woman.....if she feels like her breasts are ticking time bombs, then who are we to tell her it's wrong to remove them? It's the ultimate peace of mind for her, and let's face it, she's still going to have the benefits of being a beauty queen.

 

It is her call, but her future husband will really be missing these when he sees her pics.

 

Anything less than a DD. :grin:

 

She should do a playboy pictorial first, you know, for archival purposes.
