I disagree. On another note, whatever happened to The Cat? He was a big defender of Jason Collier, but I never see his posts anymore.
Never really used him? He played 20 minutes per night over 66 games, as opposed to Collier's 8 minutes per game over 13 games. I really doubt they'd give him up for Collier.
Count me in as one of those people that feel that this trade is absurd. Courtney Alexander has proven himself to be a quality player that can score and is athletic. While Collier hasn't proven anything. This trade is insanely lopsided. Then again New Orleans just signed Tim Floyd.
Do you mean he was banned by Clutch? That's hard to swallow. I thought his posts were always informative and well reasoned, even when I disagreed.
I agree with thumbs; The Cat was one of my favorite posters. Was he really banned? Why? Speaking of which, whatever happened to Fichte and Varunan?
I think about all the Rockets could get for Jason Collier is two Big Macs and a bucket of KFC. Jason Collier is marginal CBA material. It still puzzles me that the Rockets drafted his sorry ass in the first round.
I don't know. I actually think a healthy Courtney Alexander will take David Wesley's spot in the backcourt this season. Speak to NO fans, they'll tell you Alexander as NEVER healthy this past season, so he'll surely get another shot.
Isn't Lynch a wirey, hard nosed defensive player? I would think those kind would fit pretty well what Van Gundy is trying to accomplish? Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong guy though.
thumbs, verse, Drexlerfan22, etc: The Cat has had a LONG history with Clutch and for the most part, it has involved argument after argument. Call it brave or foolish or whatever, but The Cat would continually not back down no matter how foolish he looked, especially when Clutch pulled out old threads on him that quoted him making predictions that didn't happen. The final straw came around the beginning of this year. I know because I was in the middle of it. Cat was giving me a very hard time about Miami *losing* to Ohio State and we said some things that we have both apologized for, but Clutch came into that thread to shut Cat up. Once again, another big argument ensued, and Cat said "Well, I will just post in the Fantasy Forum from now on!" It was one of those heat of the moment type things, and I guess Cat didn't think it was possible to be banned from all forums except the Fantasy, but never underestimate Clutch and the powers of his BBS! Clutch, much to Cat's chagrin and dismay, made it to where he (The Cat) can only post in the Fantasy Forum. Now, I know some of you are saying, "But Manny I know that I have read here that he was going to take a sabbatical or whatever." In talking with him in chat, email, and the Smeg Tour, he has always told me how much he missed the GARM, Hangout, and all the other forums. He wants to be reinstated. Now that doesn't sound like someone who has taken a self-imposed ban, does it?
That he is. The reason he might not fit, he is a bit of a tweener. Not really a PF, but can play there. Id rather see Posey and Boki get mins at the 3. With Griffins slow development, Id would be more comfortable with a true 4 behind him, especially considering how many good PFs we go up against during the season.
Manny, thanks for the update. I do not recall the Clutch-Cat conflict. I just know that Cat could pull statistics like a pistol, and that made reading his posts informative if not fun. Maybe Clutch will relent and put a saucer of milk out in the alley for The Cat. I wish the board could somehow magically make everyone aware that formal argument is healthy but quarreling is not, that disagreement can be paired with civility, and that wit is refreshing but harangue is the mark of a bore.
and they used to call *me* "pollyanne-ish".. nice sentiment tho.. on-topic... I guarantee that next season someone will gladly take a 7 foot stiff with a decent shot and the ability to work off a pick. Considering how many teams don't even have true centers as it is.. I dont think the trade is fair to NO, but I think most of you under-estimate what little value StayPuft man has..
Okay, getting back on track, how about a trade of a re-signed Collier for Jeri Welsch of Golden State since many feel Courtney Alexander was worth so much more than a 7-footer with a shot? The Warriors likely will draft another point guard to back up or replace Arenas (if he bolts). Since Tin Foyle is trade bait, they may want more beef behind Erick Dampier. Welsch is 6-7 and has point guard skills. He would allow Francis to move to the SG spot or could back up Mobley. Either way, he is a young reserve with a pedigree but no proven performance...just like Jason Collier.
I'd like that trade too, but I don't know. I mean, the guy was a rookie last season. I doubt they've given up on him yet.
If they draft Hinrich or Ridnauer, Welsch is the odd man out. Jason Richardson is the SG and Arenas can back him up when the new PG comes in for Arenas. We need Hottoddie's thoughts on this! Calling Hottoddie! Calling Hottoddie!
