And two TEs, albeit one of under a mil. Not taking anything back is hard work to get.

I'll bank on Novak to Philly for a pick; the Sixers are looking for a shooter to spread things out. Rockets trim down the roster, cut some salary, and gain a future asset.

Good bye, Mr. Novak. Thanks for playing. You certainly are a good shooter. It's too bad you can't defend, or pass, or dribble, or get open, because if so, you'd have a spot in this league. I wish you nothing but the best.

Which is why he's better than Novak.

You've seen Head get to the rim, hit an open 3. Play SOME sort of D. Get a steal, a board, etc.

Novak is nothing more then a catch and shoot 3pt shooter

    Head > Novak

I thought the Rockets considered Novak a "valued asset". I guess he didn't progress as much in his second year as much as they hoped he would. It looks like they prefer Mike Harris in that backup to the backup SF/PF role.

Barring the trade for another player, and assuming we get Landry signed, this is my prediction for opening day roster. Similar rotation as last year, with Barry mixed in for some more depth at the wing.

    PG - Rafer
    SG - T-Mac
    SF - Battier
    PF - Scola
    C - Yao
    6 - Landry
    7 - Barry
    8 - Jackson
    9 - Head
    10 - Hayes
    11 - Mutombo
    12 - Brooks
    x - Dorsey
    x - Greene
    x - Harris

novak is a valued asset considering the lack of perimeter guys we do have. now that we have drafted greene and dorsey, he's expendable.

it's either him or head. i would like to see chuck stay. he's always a good defender and hustle guy if we lose yao to injury or if a big man gets injured.

I'd like to know what Luther Head can do besides shoot the ball.....sometimes. He can't dribble, can't pass, can't defend. The only thing he is good for right now is his almost $2 mill expiring salary and pumping up his shooting skill so maybe we can get a 2nd rounder out of him.

The words 'minor trade' excludes Chuck Hayes IMO as he was our starting PF for a couple years and is a proven NBA player.

Minor trade would be Head or lesser, Head seems particularly likely since this was said after the signing of Barry.

On the Novak debate, I don't see why he couldn't work himself into an NBA situational player if he continues stick with it. Case in point: What did Bullard have that Novak does not?

As they say, "Outside shooting covers a multitude of sins."

    Ask yourself this question honestly....

If you need a late game 3 point basket who would you want shooting it, Novak or Head?

Since that is all either is good for....keep the one you would want in that situation.

    For me it is Novak.

The correct answer is Brent Barry.

You Novak guys have to keep in mind that the Rockets have a glut of F's.

Novak is nothing more then a spot up 3 point shooter.

Novak can't dribble, can't rebound, can't do anything except catch and shoot.

While Head SUCKS trying to run backup PG duties, he does work off screens, can take it to the rim, can guard other team's backup PG's/SG's (Novak can't guard ANYBODY, Kyle Korver included), etc.

Guess would have to be either Novak or Head. Maybe trying to clear up a roster spot

Fine with me....I was putting up a scenario that says that is all that Head and Novak are good for......but since you decided to play hard to like....what can you do?

Francis could be the one or one of the players moved. He was playing SG but now Barry is here. Francis is seemingly stuck as a 3rd/4th option at PG/SG.

The Nets and Minnesota are in need of backup PGs. Both teams hold TEs that could be traded for Francis.

    That's slim pickings right there.

I guess I must know nothing about basketball. I agree that Head looked terrible this year, but the previous 2 seasons give me plenty of reason to disagree with your statement. Novak has proven nothing except that he can shoot standing still. Luther has a far more multi-dimensional game, and although he shot terribly last year, he's a good shooter. Just look at his 3pt percentage the year before. I think he just had trouble adjusting to Adleman's system. He should play much better this year. Plus, it would be foolish to trade him now, verses right before the trade deadline. At least at that point, he'll have more value. The expiring contracts of Head, Jackson, and Francis (assuming he looks as bad as he did last year) should net us a quality player heading into the playoffs.

    Obviously everybody would take Novak.

But SINCE we have aquired Brent, what's the use of Novak?

Considering Head brings more to the table than Novak?
