I bet Morey will trade with Memphis. The Grizz have cap space/picks/young guys. Morey and Chris Wallace are buddies.

I don't mind having Novak around... just having him for 5 mpg of shooting is worth his cheap salary. He doesn't do a whole lot, but at least he's very good at one thing.

Kind of an interestin sitaution about him and Morey, though... the story seems to be that the team was waiting until the last minute to decide whether to pick him up-- and decided to pick up the option only after hearing that other teams might have interest in him. That's why Steve hasn't shown up for summer league. It seems Morey is trying to squeeze out the very last drop of value from a guy he doesn't necessarily plan on having on the roster.

Sort of like draft day... getting 2 extra picks by moving back 3 spots and drafting the guy he wanted anyway.

I wonder which team is interested in Novak... perhpaps Philly? Their 3pt shooting was straight up pathetic last season.

Luther won't be traded. We aren't that deep at SG so the only backup SG is Barry who I think is great for this team, but Luther will be kept because of his $2 mil expiring contract.

We undervalue Chuckie Hayes...come on he is a top 15 defender in the league!

I only see Steve Novak and/or Mike Harris going...perhaps for a trade exception or a second round pick from a team who has more than 1 second rounders.

Luther won't be traded this summer!!(could be a good thing you know cos he'll be playing for a contract next season)

Actually I'd love it if we could combine Luther/Steve Novak/Mike Harris in a trade for a bigger expiring contract...such as Pachulia's 4 mil exp.

Hayes and/or Novak for Crittenton or Lowry. Add picks to balance.

Memphis figures to move some of their young pg/combo-guards, and they could use a shooter like Novak after dealing Miller, or a defensive big like Hayes to round out their rotation.

    Make it so, Morey.

That would be a great tade especially foe Crittenton, he could be the big explosive point guard we always wanted.

I really dont know if Morey want to get young players. I think Morey want to dump salaries more than anything because of luxury tax.

I hope we could retain Novak. He is an exceptional shooter and proved that he can nailed down shots at clutch time. But then someone has to go to free up roster space, I hope someone else will go .. not him. If Novak is to go, please don't send him to a Western Conference team.

I wasn't suggesting to make a move for Williams. Also Morey's quote was "a roster management move". Meaning they're not making a move to improve. Their intention is to either reduce the roster numbers or cut salary.

If Novak plays small forward, T-Mac will eat him up and Battier will shut him down. At the power forward spot, Hayes will literally beat the crap out of him.

On second thought, Hayes would be a great matchup for Novak. He wouldn't have to defend at all. And since Novak doesn't post up players, Hayes would end up chasing him around the court.

No, I think I have a handle on the rule. The Bulls have a year to get a replacement player with the TE. If they use it to trade for a player, then their trading partner will get a brand new TE of their own, worth whatever the traded player's salary was, and will be good up to a year.

A trade involving a TE is considered part of the original deal. So when the TE is used it completes that original deal.
    Team A trades $10M to Team B for $8M + $2M TE

    What you're suggesting:
    Team A trades $10M to Team B for $8M + ($2M TE x infinity)

    Example:
Minnesota recently traded a TE to Philly for Carney & Booth.

Philly did not get a TE in return.

Philly would have gotten a TE if they were over the cap. Since they were under the cap, no TE was generated. Like I said, I'm pretty sure I'm right on this one.

If that was there intention they wouldn't have reupped him. Morey's a smart cookie and he saw there was someone out there who really wanted Novak and he decided to suck whatever he could from them. It might just be for a draft pick or cash. But he did mention balancing the team which might mean a backup center or SF.

We don't want a trade exception. We want an expiring contract like Damon Jones that we can combine with BJax at the trade deadline to get a significant upgrade. You cannot combine a trade exception with BJax. So, we gotta look for a deal where we can sent Luther, Novak, and Harris for one expiring contract. Or Luther and Francis for Jones' expiring deal and a future draft choice.

Apparently so. The Suns got a TE out of trading Kurt Thomas to Seattle who used a TE.

probably head or novak for a TE.

    saving money & trimming roster.

teams with available TE's = chicago, cleveland, denver, indiana, minnesota, new jersey, okc, sacramento, san antonio.

He has standstill shooting down. That's not enough to say he "has offense down"

He's an 9th man at best. He can be helpful on an already championship caliber team, but he's not going to make any team closer to contending. Ever.

He (and maybe Brooks) need to go and make way for guys that can actually play NBA level ball, like Mike Harris.
