Stassi is called up but not Springer? I think it's official that Luhnow is just trolling Springer or has a personal grudge against him.

Can Springer catch? Considering Corporan is on the concussion DL, it made sense to bring up a catcher.

Carlos Perez? Why start Stassi's arbitration clock? I'm going on Springer logic.

They had to add him to the 40 man roster anyways to protect him from the Rule 5. Garcia and Perez are going to be left unprotected as it appears right now.

Think about this for a second.

If the minor league affiliates of the Astros are winning and winning in the playoffs each year and fans in those local communities start getting excited about their teams and love following their players doesn't it make sense that that could help grow the fan base nationally and increase the profits of the team.

St. Louis is cheered on team all around the league and I believe part of it is the winning environment that is built throughout the team and its affiliates.

I wouldn't mind some of that. Also, the more fans whole follow the minors you generally have more knowledgable fan base that follows the team through thick and lean times.

He's gonna go 40/40, only one guy has even gone 35/35 and he did it with a mere .839 OPS. Springer is putting up comically huge numbers. I know it's still no guarantee, but when you look at the names that won minor league player of the year, there has been a very high success rate.

I'm not happy about it, but I've accepted their decision. If he kills in ST and he gets sent down it will tick me off, but the way this team has been run recently they have earned some slack in my book, but I'm gonna need to start seeing some MLB results next year. I love Luhnow, but I'm starting to get a bad feeling about Crane.

friend went to recent okc game and said singelton was still overweight and looks the same from when he first got to okc. Whats going on with his weight issues? Seeing how hes still so young its quite sad. Adding the fact that hes 0-8 with 8 strikeouts last 8abs.

Really hope he loses the weight and turns the season around but if he keeps playing like this it'll be disappointing for us all.

With the way the Astros (and other teams) switch affiliates every 2-3 years, this is hard to accomplish.

Also, St. Louis is a historic franchise that was the only "western" team for many years. Thus you had people in Texas, Louisiana, Kansas, Arizona, and the entire Midwest all following them for awhile since they could receive their games through their radio superstation KMOX, with them being the closest team.

That loyalty has been passed down generation after generation. THAT is how you develop a semi-national fan base. Exposure. (Same with the braves, cubs, and you had Brooklyn fans following the dodgers after the move)
