You have minor league keeper spots or just MLB keepers?

I suppose that means fewer games against RR?

I guess it won't matter in a few years when we are probably gone from OKC.

Rollins is really making a name for himself in Corpus. Anyone else think he's becoming a legitimate prospect? If I were Luhnow I'd put him in the rotation in OKC next year and see how he responds.

Yes, in addition to our MLB roster, we have 10 minor league spots.

Nathaniel Stoltz (@stoltz_baseball) was in Greeneville tonight. He usually does coverage of a different Appy or Sally league game every other night.

I would embed this if I ever figured out how. Clutchfans bbs software mystifies me.

    Nathaniel Stoltz ‏@stoltz_baseball 10m
Greeneville RHP Jandel Gustave 95-99, T100 (twice). SL 85-90 with sweep, could be solid-avg or better with time. Some really bad CHs at 91.

Oh damn, that's awesome. How'd you find a league like that?

I would take Correa over Lindor every single day. Correa is way, way bigger physically and with that frame might mean a **** ton of power when he matures. At this point Correa is flat out dominating his league, he's like 2nd in OPS and one of the youngest players in that league. You never know but Correa looks like a future star to me. Manny Machado type player.

No lead is safe at The Hangar.

I have to say that Jeff Luhnow's comments regarding George Springer were definitely not what I wanted to hear.

    Recap

    Oklahoma City 3, Albuquerque 2

The Redhawks scraped a run across in the 8th to take the opener. They now have a 4-game lead on the Isotopes after winning their 13th straight at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. OKC only had 3 hits, but they sure made them count.

Down 1-0 in the 3rd, George Springer continued to do George Springer things; he hit a solo homer (15, 34 season) to tie the game. The Isotopes scored a run in the 6th to go back in front, but again, that lead only lasted half a frame, as Jonathan Singleton ripped an RBI double to left-center in the bottom of the inning. Brandon Laird put the Redhawks ahead in the 8th by poking an RBI single through the left side of the infield.

David Martinez went 5 2/3 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6. Jason Stoffel got 2 outs (1 in the 6th and 1 in the 7th) and allowed a hit. Science Guy retired all 5 Isotopes he faced, striking out 2 of them. Jorge De Leon closed it out with a 1-2-3 9th.

In game 2 of this big 4-game set, Paul Clemens will take on Angel Castro. First pitch is at 7:05.

Corpus Christi 8, Arkansas 2 in 11 innings

6 runs in the 11th busted a 2-2 game wide, wide open for the Hooks.

On the mound, the Hooks got a solid night from David Rollins, who went 6 innings and allowed a run on 6 hits, walked 2, and fanned 8. Alex Sogard threw 3 innings and allowed a run (the tying run in the 9th) on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. Andrew Robinson allowed a hit and fanned 2 over 2 scoreless frames to get the win.

Domingo Santana broke a scoreless tie and a no-hitter with a solo homer (22) in the 5th. The Hooks' 2nd hit of the night was a Matt Duffy solo homer in the 7th, which put them up 2-1. Sogard coughed up the lead, but in the 11th, Duffy untied it with his 2nd homer of the night, a 2-run shot (3, 22 season). Drew Muren doubled, Enrique Hernandez was hit by a pitch, and Preston Tucker walked to load the bases for Max Stassi, who promptly emptied them with a grand slam (17). Good Lord. He, Santana, Duffy, and Muren had 2 hits apiece.

The middle game of the series pits Kyle Hallock against Michael Roth. First pitch is at 7:10.

    Lancaster 14, High Desert 11

The Jethawks used the extreme hitter's tendencies to their advantage as they unleashed an 8-run 8th on the Mavericks to turn an 11-6 deficit into the final score.

Delino DeShields led off the bottom of the 1st with a triple and then scored on Andrew Aplin's sac fly to tie the game at 1. DeShields finished 2-4 with 3 runs scored. Everyone in the lineup scored. Everyone had a hit except for Nolan Fontana, who was 0-3 with 2 walks, a strikeout, and a run scored.

The Mavs put up 3 in the 3rd to take the lead, but the Jethawks responded with 5 of their own in the bottom of the inning to seize the lead. Joe Sclafani walked, DeShields was hit by a pitch, and Nolan Fontana walked to load the bases to start off. Aplin got his 100th RBI of the season by grounding into a force out that scored Sclafani. DeShields came home on an RBI double from Brandon Meredith. Tyler Heineman was the 2nd casualty of the inning, but Jesse Wierzbicki drew a walk to re-load the bases (Aplin and Meredith on), and Dan Gulbransen sent them all home with a double.

It was looking bleak as they headed into the bottom of the 8th down 11-6. But, like the big 3rd, the Jethawks loaded the bases right off the bat. This time, they got 3 straight singles from Heineman, Wierzbicki, and Gulbransen. Luis Alvarez brought all of them home, and himself too. With one swing of the bat, Alvarez (3, 6 season) made it a 1-run game. In fact, the Jethawks opened their half of the 8th with 6 consecutive hits. Sclafani and DeShields singled, but Sclafani was nailed at 3rd as part of a force play, as Fontana tried a sac bunt. Aplin delivered with a 2-run triple. Meredith walked, then Heineman hit an RBI double to bring Aplin home. Meredith scored the Jethawks' final run on a sac fly from Wierzbicki.

Kyle Smith allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6 in 5 2/3 innings. Jordan Jankowski pitched an inning (1 out in the 6th and 2 in the 7th) and allowed 4 runs on 4 hits (2-run homer) and struck out 2. Tyson Perez did not record an out in the 7th, as he gave up 2 runs on 3 hits (solo homer). Michael Dimock finally got that final out of the 7th. He also threw a scoreless 8th, striking out 1. Travis Ballew closed it out with 2 strikeouts in a 1-2-3 9th.

In the middle game of this series... well, Brady Rodgers is listed as tonight's starter, but he's currently on the DL. Vince Velasquez last pitched on August 9, so we could see him make his Lancaster debut tonight. He's a little closer to home now, so he's got that going for him. Whoever starts will take on Jordan Pries at 7:00 Pacific.

    Clinton 6, Quad Cities 1

Swept. The LumberKings swamped the River Bandits with a 6-run 6th.

An RBI single from Rio Ruiz in the 2nd put the River Bandits on the board first, but that was the only run they plated. All 6 of their hits were singles.

Chris Devenski allowed 5 runs (1 inherited) on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2 in 5 1/3 innings. Mitch Lambson threw the remaining 2 2/3 and allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6.

After that dud, the River Bandits have now lost 4 straight. They now head home to host Burlington in a 4-game series. In the opener, Joe Bircher will face Brandon Love. First pitch is at 7:00.

    Tri-City 4, Staten Island 1

The ValleyCats scored 4 unanswered at the death to take the series opener against the Yankees.

Conrad Gregor tied the game with a sac fly in the 8th. Later, Mike Martinez put TC ahead with a 2-run homer (10). Chan-Jong Moon hit a triple with 1 out in the 9th and wound up scoring on a balk. Ernesto Genoves was 2-4 with a double.

Michael Feliz went 5 2/3 and allowed a run (on a solo homer from Isaias Tejeda in the 5th) on 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. Richard Rodriguez allowed 2 hits and fanned 2 over 1 1/3 scoreless. J.D. Osborne closed it out with 2 scoreless, allowing a hit and fanning 3.

In the middle game of this series, Troy Scribner will take on Rookie Davis. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

    Pulaski 14, Greeneville 1

Pass. Here's the link to the box score.

The Appy Astros will look to avoid a sweep and halt a 4-game skid in the finale. TBA will take on Gabe Saquilon at 7:00 Eastern.

GCL Pirates 7, GCL Astros 0

The Kissimmee Stros were held to 3 singles as they lost by a touchdown.

Agapito Barrios went 2 1/3 and allowed 4 runs on 5 hits (solo homer), walked 3, and struck out 1. Jorge Perez allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, walked 1, and fanned 1 in 1 1/3. Reymin Guduan pitched 2 1/3 and gave up a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. Justin Hess struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 7th, and Javier Lozano walked the bases loaded in the 8th, but escaped unscathed.

These two teams will do it again in Kissimmee in a few minutes.

DSL Rays 4, DSL Astros 3

A 3-run homer from Jose Rojas off of Yonquelys Martinez in the 8th put the Rays ahead.

All 3 of the Academy's runs came in the 3rd. Kristian Trompiz went 2-4 with a 2-run triple in the inning, and he would score himself on a wild pitch. Luis Payano was 2-4 with a run scored.

Starlyng Sanchez shined in his first start, as he allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 6 over 5 shutout innings. Cristhopher Santamaria allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1 as he got 2 outs in the 6th. Robert Corniel blew it too as he provided Martinez with the ammunition to fail, allowing 2 runs (both inherited, both scoring on the homer) on a hit, walked 2, and struck out 2. Martinez failed.

So how about Singleton, he's still struggling at AAA.

His August OPS is .951, so no he's really not, his overall numbers still look bad but he appears to be back on track.
