Nothing left to prove. He's playing in a league where he is superior to the competition and pitching. Even if he tries to feign improvement with his 2 strike approach, he knows what he's capable of doing when ball meets bat.
He's gotta be a little upset about not being called up yet especially being on the brink of turning 24..Different day same story
After not getting out of the 1st in his first start, Kyle Smith goes the distance tonight. CG, 2 H, 9 K in a 6-0 Lancaster win
Both hits were just singles, too. Has there been a better pitching performance in our system this season (especially considering this was in the CAL league a night after the team gives up a 30 spot)?
And that's vs High Desert on the road, and I believe their stadium is the most extreme hitters park. Great stuff
Rany Jayazerli (Baseball Prospectus founder, Grantland writer) is preaching to Royals fans on twitter right now about how meaningful a CG at High Desert is. As you can imagine, they think they've smoked the Justin Maxwell trade; he thinks not.
Easily. I hope Maxwell does well and helps them in their postseason bid. Good for him. I wish he would have done it for us this year to raise his trade profile, but that's ok. Nevertheless, guys like Kyle Smith and Danry Vasquez are intriguing prospects (future major leaguers, perhaps) that warrant the trades.
I was curious where high desert was, so i checked it out, this is a minor league park if ever there was one. The google earth panoramic is even better. It would make a good location in Fallout 4. Kyle Smith had a great start, go ahead and send him to CC. He was dominating A advanced before he got here.
It isn't Buxton hate. People are upset that others are so infatuated with Buxton and disliking the Correa pick. Buxton has looked a lot more human at A+ ball. I'm pretty happy with Correa and Ruiz, and I'd be happy with Buxton.
I think you have to really consider it. Reynolds was a very good #3 starter. There is a good chance (injuries, performance) that Appel won't have as good a career as Reynolds.
Who hates Buxton? I would love to have him in the Astros system. He is a legitimate 5 tool prospect. Having said that, Correa has been every bit as impressive, especially when you consider that Correa plays shortstop and has not even began to fill out his frame at 18 years old. The only real skill Buxton has on Correa is speed. Simply because I would rather have Correa at this point doesn't mean I or anyone else hates Buxton.
I totally get the reasoning about not wanting to rush top prospects...but Springer can't do any more at AAA. He's 23. This wouldn't be rushing him. Luhnow isn't in this to win minor league championships. No one outside of OKC cares how many games they win in the playoffs. Move the kid up. It's time.

I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. Teoscar Hernandez just hit a 3-run homer (11) for Quad Cities.
