He should be in our top 10 once Mayo actually reworks the list. At the trade deadline, Mayo just inserts guys into the mid-season rankings and shuffles everyone back a spot.
On the radio this past weekend I heard Lunhow say that he really likes this kid and has wanted him for a while (draft). Thinks he has number one catcher future potential.
Ranking and following the minors is becoming a sport in and of itself. Prospects are getting more and more attention every season (hell, they only started televising the draft 2 years ago). Sure, it helps that there's nothing local of note to follow at the MLB level, but the more young guys you get up to the big leagues who have success right away, the more teams are going to be promoting aggressively. HS, college, and international competition is better than ever... leading to more young players ready to play earlier. To me, this is the biggest development in baseball since the steroid era... now that you don't have 20 guys hitting 40 HR's every season, teams have gone back to getting younger/faster/dynamic/multi-tooled/more athletic players to fill out rosters (as opposed to hulkers swinging the long ball). This will go to further the STAIN that the steroid era created on baseball... looking at the late 90's stats now compared to todays (and the stats pre-steroids) its such a freakin outlier that I highly doubt MLB officials were completely oblivious about all the PED's.
Duffy with home run #18, his 7th of July. He should close out the month with a .600ish SLG, and now leads Lancaster on the season in batting average. He's 2nd in the league in RBIs and 4th in BA entering the game.
It's amazing, I'm convinced our system has actually gotten to a point of maximum depth. There are only so many affiliates and so many ABs to go around. If we got any more position player prospects, we'd struggle to find a place to put them. Matt Duffy should probably be in AA, and yet he's stuck in A+.
He updated the list for the draft though and stassi, I believe, was given a 2 future grade boost in his power
The depth will come in handy when we are winning in a couple of years and we can go after All-Stars in trades. I am so ready for 2015, think that is the first year of playoffs (although 2016 might be more realistic).
Stassi up to .284/.348/.573 with 15 HRs on the season. 10 bombs in 15 games. If Max ends the season strong he can say hello to the Top 100.
I trust Luhnow more than I did Purpura or Wade but this concept really kind of scares me since it played a part in the raping of our minor league system prior to this recent bout of suckage. As long as it is done sparingly and only for really game changing, dynamic players. I guess it would help to continue finding good, successful players in the draft as well.
I trust Luhnow. We would be like the Rangers, trading prospects for Cliff Lee, Beltre, Hamilton, etc., but still have one of the top farms.
The problem with the old owner/regime was that as soon as players at the MLB level started getting expensive, he started ignoring the importance of the farm system even more than he already was. Not all these guys dominating the minors are going to make it. There's no guarantees on Springer being an all star.

Good to see Rollins get promoted! I assume someone from CC rotation will be called up. The rotation now stands at Martinez, Alaniz, Tropeano, Doran, Folty, and Rollins. Maybe Martinez or Folty gets the call with peacock probably getting called up
Mayo did just re-shuffle a couple of weeks ago. He does it twice a year. What I found interesting was when we got Vasquez, Stassi was ranked 20, but Mayo left him at 20 and dropped of Carlos Perez who was 19. Staying healthy will certainly skyrocket his prospect ranking. If he ends the season with an OPS this ridiculous and the high CS rate, he will move way up.
We definitely are. Our 21-30 are on level with our 1-10 from 3 years ago (opening day): Castro Mier Lyles Gervacio Lo Seaton Bushue Austin Gaston Steele
