Well, what's going on today in the system on this Astros off day?

    All times Central.

    Oklahoma City (34-29) vs. Iowa (30-35), 7:05

    [IMG] [IMG]

Brad Peacock (1-2, 4.98 ERA) vs. Nick Struck (3-4, 6.24 ERA)

The Redhawks and Cubs wrap up their series tonight. Tomorrow, the Round Rock Express come to town for a big, big series. Entering tonight's contest, the Express lead OKC by a game (OKC has played 2 fewer games).

    Corpus Christi (40-25) @ Frisco (37-28), 7:05

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Nick Tropeano (1-4, 3.71 ERA) & Bobby Doran (6-1, 3.54 ERA) vs. Carlos Pimentel (7-2, 2.96 ERA)

The Hooks lead the Roughriders by 3 games with 5 games remaining in the Texas League's first half. If you're wondering, the first half ends on Monday. If Corpus and Frisco are tied by then, then they'll settle the first half title in their next meeting, which is next Thursday.

    Lancaster (37-29) @ Lake Elsinore (26-40), 9:05

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Brady Rodgers (5-3, 4.41 ERA) & Chris Devenski (4-2, 6.68 ERA) vs. James Needy (2-2, 3.61 ERA)

The Jethawks wrap up the first half of the California League on the road, taking on the last-place Storm. They currently lead Inland Empire by 2 games in the California League's South division. The first half champion gets a bye from the first round mini-series.

Quad Cities (35-29) vs. Cedar Rapids (40-24), 7:00

    [IMG] [IMG]

Jordan Jankowski (2-0, 3.38 ERA) vs. Christian Powell (0-1, 10.80 ERA)

Well, the River Bandits' playoff hopes have been all but dashed. However, they have the opportunity to take 2 of 3 from the Kernels. And maybe spoil their hopes for a first-half title.

Just a random question, but why does AA split the season in half?

I figure it's to keep more people interested in the second half of the season.

Nick Tropeano struck out a rehabbing Ian Kinsler to start off his outing.

With the exception of future rehab starts this games should close the book on Singletons AA career

    Projected out to 162 games

    .285 BA
    .395 OBP
    .504 SLG

    26 HR
    100 RBI
    114 Runs

    And still only 21

Brad Peacock went 6 innings and allowed a run on 2 hits and struck out 4. Perfect through 5.

Corpus finished the win. NiTro-Doran is back on track...

NiTro: 5 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, 3 Ks (solo HR)
    Doran: 4 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 Ks

No walks is impressive. I think that should be 4 Corpus starters in the top 12 in ERA, as they roughed up Carlos Pimental and his 2.96 ERA entering the game to drop him below Tropeano. Pimental still has a 1.09 WHIP and averages better than 1 K/inning, but Corpus launched 4 HR on him.

Singleton went 3-3, 2 HR, 2 runs, 3 RBIs, and 2 walks. tellitlikeitis, I think you had mentioned hoping Singleton would help Corpus close out the first half strong. I think that qualifies.
