Some no doubt do try to protect and serve. But it looks more and more that the police culture is just overall rotten, at least in numerous places. Even knowing that police brutality is being protested nation-wide and there are cameras carried by professional journalists and citizens watching every single encounter, many officers cannot keep from becoming violent in situations where violence is not even remotely called for. How is this one single citizen close to a threat? Just fire all the police and make them re-apply for their jobs after passing a class in de-escalation and fundamental human rights.
