I appreciate that. To be honest have no idea what the T-Wolves are doing with Roy. I also have no idea in what shape his knees are. I'm just guessing here like you are. You very well may end up being right and I sure see where you're coming from. I just think the way this roster is designed Adelman will pretty much have to start either Roy or Shved. If Roy's knees aren't as good as advertised and he looks like he did in Portland towards the end, then they very well may have to start Ridnour or Bud, but it sure will mess up their rotation if they do so.
I thought Brandon Roy's knees were completely shot and that he did not have any cartilage between the bones in his knees that resulted in total excruciating pain. I have not heard of anything that regrows cartilage. Can someone fill me in on the type of procedure did Brandon Roy had? Are there any other professional athletes that have had undergone this procedure and had successful comebacks? If Brandon can play close to the level he did when he was at the top of his game, Minnesota will be scary good and be my sleeper team to come of the west. (Although I seriously doubt they can beat Oklahoma or LA). If Brandon Roy does make a successful comeback, we should try and revive Ralph Sampson. On a lighter, more humorous note, if Minnesota starts Chase at shooting guard (highly unlikely), they would have 5 whites starting, with 4 of them sporting a beard. When was the last time a professional NBA team had 5 whites guys starting?
The day that bud starts ... (I was going to say: over brandon roy, but lets just stick with reality) then [insert ridiculousness]. Only a rockets fan could think bud is worthy to start. Shved is 3 times the player that Bud is. Bud better hope he gets minutes as a spot shooter/ 3 point specialist. Starter bwbwabwbwabwbawbawwab
I know jack **** about Shved, but given that 1. Adelman knows Budinger 2. Shved is a rookie and 3. Minnesota desperately needs shooters, I think Budinger will start. And Budinger will easily start over Brandon Roy, unless you think Brandon Roy can play 20 minutes over an 82 game season. I honestly think that this will be a disaster for Roy and he shouldn't do this.
I know this thread was about Andrei Kirilenko and has digressed off topic, but before it goes back on topic, I will add another post about whether or not Chase Budinger or Brandon Roy will start. In my original post in this thread, I said it was unlikely Chase would start despite my comments about Brandon Roy's knees. I still stand behind my original belief that it would be highly unlikely for Chase to start. I did a quick google search on the medical procedures Brandon underwent. Here are the articles, and they are worth reading. The NBA’s Brandon Roy – Did Stem Cells Cure His Knee Injury? (video) http://metromd.net/the-nbas-brandon-roy-did-stem-cells-cure-his-knee-injury/ Platelet-rich plasma therapy big with athletes http://www.foxsportsnorth.com/07/03...h-at/landing_timberwolves.html?blockID=755844 Kobe Bryant Underwent ‘Innovative’ Knee Procedure http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2011/07/kobe-bryant-underwent-innovative-knee-procedure/ Kobe Bryant undergoes a different kind of knee procedure http://articles.latimes.com/2011/jun/30/sports/la-sp-kobe-bryant-knee-20110701 Who knows if these procedures will be successful, but there were several teams interested in Brandon Roy, and his contract with Minnesota is significantly more than chump change. Kobe Bryant had the same procedure and came back allot stronger. Those factors would lead me to believe that the procedures he underwent had some level of success for teams to offer him a contract for 10 million. I think Minnesota believes that the procedures to repair Brandon Roy's knees were successful and that he will come back strong and play significant minutes (20 to 25 minutes per game) otherwise they would not have offered him as much as they did for the contract.
Better than the Portland teams that averaged 59+ wins over three seasons (89-92) and made two finals appearances? He made it past the first round every year and the conference finals once with the Kings from 2000-04 (avg. 57+ wins a season). Even we averaged 54 wins a year in his first two seasons in Houston, making the second round in 2009. You willing to take the over on 56.5 wins for the Wolves next year? Tipjar bet?
Minny I predict will be in the lottory again. Their roster is so injury prone. They're one of the most overrated teams but never amount to anything.
Probably, they were bidding against AK's Euro team. If no NBA team was willing to cough up a premium, he could just keep being a hero in his own country. But, yeah it still seems like overpaying. But, I think it makes some sense in that it seems like this season is Minn's bid to be taken seriously and AK will help them be a serious playoff team. And, while the dollars are high, the contract is short. It might hurt the owner's pocketbook, but it won't much impact the flexibility of the front office.
Overrated and never amount to anything? Is there someone that's been picking them to be a great team that I've been missing?
Get with the times dude. The Rockets have more white guys than the Jazz. Jazz only have 2 white guys.
Well Jopat's saying this would be the most talented team he's ever coached, and the Portland teams he coached reached the finals, so.... LOL I dunno how Minny will turn out, but my money's on us having a higher win total then them again. Every year somebody always says that Mnny team will be awesome, and every year we end up with a better record.
