Rockets need to be cold-hearted in their dealings now. They went the soft route by giving long-term contracts to guys who they promised big money to during their 1st year with the Rockets aka (Matt, Moochie, and Maurice). Rockets should not sign anyone to a long-term contract who has a first name beginning with an 'M'. Players who don't pan out should be dealt fast. Policy is to cut losses quickly before it gets out of hand. Look at Hakeem in his final two years with the Rockets. Rockets had an opportunity to trade him to Toronto for a high first round pick. Management decided to be loyal to Hakeem. Fans didn't care, and attendance was dismal. It's about wins and losses. Rockets have been too player-friendly. Look at the Clippers organization. They are on the verge of getting Kobe Bryant since they have the cap room next summer. That addition will put the Clippers ahead of the Rockets. That organization is not player-friendly at all, and they have managed their resources well enough to be in a position to take advantage of an opportunity. Rockets have given out so many bad contracts due to a player-friendly management that there is no way the Rockets can make a move in the free agent market until after 2006-2007. If the right offer comes along for any player from Steve, Cuttino, or Yao, the Rockets would be foolish not to look at it.
Mobley is a pure shooter with high percentage of hits. With center yao we need such a player like cat to share pressure of the interior lines. And he always keep sober at the key point(even SF3 can't do that sometimes). Without G.Rice already,I can't imagine what happen without cat then. Ok.I know business is business. But No trade to him.Stop discussing trade post that really hurt cat. Give patience to cat, also to all Rockets. Don't make decision hastily untile this season is over.
If we traded Cat we better be getting someone like Harpring (Not going to happen) or Williams + MoPete (not going to happen). Artest...Doubt it. Kurt Thomas...don't like that one either. Mobley is really valuable not only because of point production and solid defense, but also because he's underpaid. Don't see how Steve's assists would go up with Mobley leaving. Steve's points might go up, but that's not a good thing really. I just don't see why Mobley would be traded. Can't see us receiving anything of equal or greater value.
Then we trade them Francis, Yao, Nachbar, Cato, Piakowski, Ford, A.Griffin, etc. one by one for Eddie, cutting him each time so the Nets can resign him. Once we are down to just Moochie, we break out the cloning tanks and field a team of 12 Moochies, with three Moochies on the IR.
I told you Mobley would be traded, though I thought he would be traded before the season. Mobley is important to the team, not only is he scoring and locking people down defensively, he communicates with Yao well. Seems like everytime the Rocks are on television they're raving about how much of an underrated player he is. Other teams see that and want him. And the Rockets see that and are probably looking for the right package to trade him for. Why you would trade the guy when the team seems to be coming together I don't have a clue. Don't screw up team chemistry by trading important players, but hey, that's the Rockets decision. The one logic I never understood is how trading Mobley makes Francis a better player. How!?
If we don't want Steve, who does?!? And those teams that want him can't offer us in return an All Star as popular as him...and attendance...and everything! We can't trade him anyways because he is a BYC player. What's the best we can get for Steve? We aren't going to trade him anyways..
LOL. Don't let CD see this. He would definitely consider this as a possibility with his brilliant mind.
I actually think that Cat is the only player on the team that improved from last year. Besides, he really has one of the best bargain contracts in the league. If Cat were traded and the team didn't get better, look for a new GM in H-town.
I don't like the idea of trading Mobley. As was previously stated, the guy's been arguably the most consistent player on the team, and certainly the most consistent scorer. With the Rockets' offense this year being so inconsistent, can you imagine where we might be right now if Mobley hadn't stepped up so much? I think that when Mobley is traded we can start counting the days that Francis will stay in Houston. I know there are plenty of you who would love to see Steve & Mobley gone, so you might be getting your wish--but I still think we can make things work on this team with both of them. Even with this year's disappointments, I LOVE this backcourt and I still believe it's one of the best in the league. Obviously, if the price is right then you ALWAYS need to consider the trade, but I'm not too excited when I look at the past trades in recent memory. I don't know, the whole thing makes me REAL nervous.
Or, trade both of them! Yao and another stud player (Francis, etc does not qualify) is enough (anyone seen the Lakers). Francis and Cuttino (and the rest of our crappy roster except Yao) for . . . . . a big salary that would match like . . . McGrady, or Brand, or Kidd, or Webber OR, get creative and go after a . . . Stoudamire(or Marion) (suck off their bad contracts and give them draft picks and good contracts to make it work) Chandler (Chicago needs a veteran backcourt even with Crawford finally performing) Kobe (probably won't happen) Carmelo (in addition to Frnacis and Cat, it would take every good contract and a few draft picks for this to work) OR, at least look at some possible deals like . . . Wagner&Miles (Cleveland gets a veteran backcourt to go with Lebron at SF and Boozer at PF - - if we could swap out someone for Z also that would work out also) A lot of potential but who knows. Quentin & Maggette - same idea, veterans for potential. One of my favorites: Francis for Ray Allen Mobley+Cato+(MoT, whatever) for Mike Miller and filler. PG: Moochie/FA - team's weak spot, but decent PG FAs are cheap SG: R.Allen/Jackson - Strong SF: Miller/Jackson - Stong PF: MoT or whatever we get in exchange C: Yao/? - If not strong then we lose anyway I love the combination of not just one, but two stud shooters to compliment Yao. With Allen at the top of the key and Miller on the wing, Yao could set a record for assists at the C spot and still get his. The other 2 starters would only need to play D and move around to create space. Or, after getting Allen, would trade Mobley/Cato/etc for a true PG or a decent PF/SF or even a player with big potential: Al Harrington / Wagner / Nene / Milicic / Gasol / Butler / etc. Allen is one of only a few players that would force teams out on him and away from Yao (Miller being another).
