I want to add to this that, yes, there is no way I can scientifically prove to you that God exists. Personally I think, what are the chances the created can create a science which proves the creator exists? I wonder about this a lot.

I also think that arguing about religion is absolutely pointless, but IMO only if you are trying to find hard evidence or come to a final ruling every time.

Not sure about refuge within structure since religion is the original "structure". Unless I'm misunderstanding what you were saying?

    DaDa,

At this point I don't think there's any more value in discussing this. I just hope that in the future you are more selective with your sources of information. Presenting the video of a nutjob convert is not a reflection on anyone but that guy himself or the person who converted him into Islam with anger. I was dissapointed to see this. I don't know if you really thought that you were displaying the average or moderate Muslim. Just in case it wasn't clear, it really was not. The Qura'an doesn't mention executing an apostate ever.

We both believe in God. We're able to do this blindly. When it comes to religion, I have a certain connection to Islam much like I do to God. The words of the Qura'an remind me of God. When I hear the Qura'an I know it. It's familiar. It's the voice of the same thing which led me to believe in God.

You haven't had the opportunity to do this. Maybe you're not interested, and maybe it's just not for you. But if there's anything I'll take out of this is that there's a lot of misinformation out there. Also that Islam is extremely difficult to understand for someone who has grown up in a non-Muslim country(Quraa'n, Hadith, application, law, science, society, etc).

But I also hope that you recognize that anything can be taken out of context. I don't try to post the hundreds of thousands of Muslim idiots on youtube who pick at things in the Bible by taking them out of context. I just read the specific part of the Bible for myself. Then I call them idiots. They're not on my team.

If I didn't take the time to TRY (really try) to debunk the notion that another religion is truly "evil", then it would be completely unfair of me to judge that religion. I would just adopt the "I don't know it well enough to judge" mentality. I am a Muslim and I do this with Judaism. Do you know how easy it is for a Muslim to immediately grow hateful of the entire Judaic (is that the right word?) religion and its people?

Though I know you're fairly set in your ways, I hope you take that into consideration. There's nothing wrong with not knowing. If it becomes really important, then just find out about it.

I'd like to recommend Hamza Yusif to everyone here. You will be able to relate to him as he is very Pro-American (he is American) and a Sunni Islamic Scholar. He is a good example of how Islam is flexible. He lives in Cali. Read about him.

    Thanks

It's pointless because you don't bother to do any actual independent research about things you claim.

"Their real age may be somewhat younger, since C-14 estimates the year of the death of an organism, and the process from that to the final writing on the parchment involves an unknown amount of time."

hmm that is odd. I thought a lot of people had the ability to study things without a degree? So, now we have too have degrees to understand what the Quran and Bible says? Interesting.

Thanks, Mathloom. Saw your post, but I wanted to take some time to respond thoroughly. I'll post my thoughts tomorrow.
