I dink Yao Ming can get rookie of the year award just like pau gasol. j william his height disadvantaged him from the award. It is all about height in the nba.

    Yao Ming's #2 fan

Im as big of a Yao Minf fan as anyone, but come come on, ROY? Yao himself has stated several times that it will take him some time to adjust. The Chinese Basketball authorities have said they hope the Rockets do 60% playing and 40% developing ( what ever that means). Yao Ming might get voted into the NBA all star game as a starter by the fans, but comeon, ROY, that's done by sports writer. I can see Yao goint 12ppg, 7.5 rpg, and 2.7 bpg (slightly better than Bradley's rookie # cause I know he's better than Bradley) but that won't be enough. JWill will put up some monster numbers (18ppg, 9 ast, 2 spg) in Chi town, and if the bulls are able to make the playoffs in a wide open east, he will be the ROY. Look at what Jason Kidd did for the Nets, now I know Kidd is better the Williams but I think William will be the player that can push the Bull's into the playoffs. The deal is this, if Rocket's make the playoff, the glory goes to Francis, Mobes, and Eddie. If the Bulls make it, its all JWill.

Let me be the first person to say that Jay Williams has NO chance to win the ROY award. He is not made for the NBA games and you'll know what I mean very soon.

Yao Ming might have a slim chance to win it, but it will be difficult for him since he will need time adapting to the NBA games as well as the American culture.

Drew Gooden looked good in summer league, but he won't start with Gasol in place.

So, the player who's most likely to win the ROY is Dajuan Wagner, who was just given a starting job tonight after the Miller trade.

ROY? In 2000, yes.:D This year? No way. Caron Butler, Drew Gooden, Jay Williams, Dajuan Wagner? This class is too deep.

Yao ain't no Ichiro, it's that simple.

Has anyone seen the ESPN commercial where Ichiro says, in broken English:

"Ichiro Suzuki is Number One! Anyone got a problem with that?"

I'm a diehard Astro fan, but Ichiro is pretty damn funny!!

    :D :D

All theose guys have a good chance:

1)DaJuan Wagner (he will be the main man in Cavs and will score the most points in this years class)
2)Caron Butler (he will have the second biggest chance because he is damn good and he plays in the Heat who may be in the playoffs)
3)Drew Gooden (Beleave me he will start nex to Pau & Shane....he will be either SF or PF....and he can do a lot of good thing in a bunches)
4)Jay Williams (Will have a exelent impact in young bulls team)
5)Jared Jeffries (If Jordan wont return then he will start)
6)Juan Dixon (You have to really watch him....his got all the skills+more.....the big heart)
7)Yao Ming (I dont think he will have big chances for the ROY....but in a couple of years he will be good)

BE WARE....2002 CLASS WILL BE ONE OF THE BEST.....

Wagner is a scorer, he doesn't do a great job getting teammates involved. I think that will hurt him in the voting. He might have played better with Miller at PG and him at SG.

hej SlamN i agree, but think what kinds of stuff can DaJuan do because there is nolonger Andre Miller and Wagner & Miles have the team to themselves.

i forgot Mike Dunleavy ,but i dont think he will shine for GS.

It's important to be supportive of our rookie Ming, but we don't need to trash everybody else's. This is a legit question, who will be Rookie of the year? I don't put Ming #1 because he doesn't get here until 2 weeks before the season starts and will be pretty worn out from various tournaments. Jay Williams won't bust, he had a great summer on the Bulls are on their way up. They wont' make the playoffs, but they will be as close as they have ever been since the MJ era ended. I like Butler, he's got the kind of fire that justifies the Paul Pierce connection, but like Pittino, Riley is going to be gripping Butler's reins very tightly, preventing him from putting up the #'s that would help is ROY case, but might hurt the Heat's playoff run. I think Drew Gooden could also win it, but he'd need to play Gasol minutes and he won't be able to play those minutes with Gasol there. People think of Gasol as a SF, but he can't hit jumpers like one and is better suited in the post. Gooden could play SF, but with Dickerson being the SG, it would be tough to get Battier to vacate the SF position. Wagner is going to win it in my opinion. With Miller gone, Wagner is now the #1 guy in Cleveland. The Cavs aren't going to worry about winning unless your talking about the King James Sweepstakes. . . So my list goes like this

    1. Wagner
    2. Williams
    3. Ming
    4. Butler
    5. Gooden

Sleeper: Amare Stoudamire. He showed he's not just some highschooler hanging out on the bench until he's old enough to play, he'll be starting before you know it.

But I have to question the faniablity of guys like "UT baller" I havent read one postive thing from him yet, EVERY thing has be negative, but oh well, to each his own I guess
