Totally agree with Cat. Ming was in foul trouble. He's smart not to challenge that dunk. PERIOD.

I just watched the highlight reel. As far as I can tell, the guy was not Yao's assignment. Yao moved over to help out, so it's not like the guy backed him up and went over him for a monster jam. We shouldn't criticize Yao Ming for that play, we should give recognition to the German player who made a great move to beat his man to the whole. That man NOT being Yao Ming.

we all know you were waiting for that. too bad it doesn't mean a darn thing. you know what, he's gonna get dunked on quite a few more times too, and that won't put a mark on his career either. why? because people will be too busy remembering how many balls yao flicked aside. EVERYBODY GETS DUNKED ON.

    Eynmisan "Misan" Nikagbatse
    Birthdate: 7/7/82
    NBA Position: Shooting Guard
    Ht: 6-4
    Wt:
    European Team: Olympiakos B.C. Piraeus
    Hometown: Germany
    Telebasket Profile
    Euroleague Profile

    Statistics

    NBA Comparation: Cuttino Mobley

Strengths: Maybe the best player his age still in Europe (Parker is already gone). He's got crazy moves, crossovers, bodyfakes. He is scorer first, passer second. Allen Iverson has had a noticeable influence on his game. You get the feeling he can score at will. This could be another German that makes it big, but its all up to him.

Weaknesses: One problem is that he hasn't played much against worthy competiton, which should change once he gets more minutes with Olympiakos. Has to learn how to play a controlled game, often rushes plays. Doesn't have standard height for the SG position.

    -Uros Velkavrh

Notes: Nigerian father and a German mother

I was thinking he could make a tryout on the Lakers:D

Yao Ming will get dunked on. This is the NBA and the taller you are, the more everybody wants to dunk on you. The important is for Yao not to get rattled when it happens.

Go away, you're annoying. You don't like Ming, big deal. He's in Houston, deal with it.

The Big Cheese makes a big stink!

It sure is nice to have a center that scores 16 points, grabs 5 rebounds, getse 2 blocks and 2 assists in 17 minutes on an off night! That is a good night for most of the current centers in the NBA.

Big deal, Hakeem got infamously posterized by Kevin Johnson, Jordan got embarassed by Roderick Rhodes, Shaq and David Robinson got rejected by prehistoric Charles Jones; It's basketball, sometimes you look good, sometimes you look bad.

He actually did contend the dunk. I saw a replay of the game on NBA TV at 1 pm EST. I didn't start this post to rip Ming, cause I love Yao's game, but I just couldn't believe that that guy dunked on Ming. I made a mistake. The guy that dunked on Ming's name is Misan Nikagbatse.

He didn't... watch it again. Yao putting his hands up may look like he contended the shot just because of how tall he is, but his feet barely leave the ground. I have watched the replay several times. It is the classic case of a big man in foul trouble just sticking his hands up so that he won't get another foul.

Like I said, because of his height it may appear otherwise, but Ming is not seriously challenging that shot. If he was, wouldn't you think this news would be all over the AP stories?

I always find it interesting when people say because Ming is 7'6", he'll suck, he's Shawn Bradley, etc., and then turn around and say because he's 7'6", he should be held to a higher starndard than any other players (can't miss a dunk, can't be dunked on, etc).
