As far as the offensive side goes, Yao doesn't have the ability to put the ball on the floor more than two times going to the basket so the only reason to have him at four would be to let him hoist up threes (which I'm not doubting he could make) which no matter how good of a shot he has it won't be as good as a 55% feild goal percentage around the basket.
Could he be more effective? He's got an outstanding outside shot, is a great perimeter rebounder, and could get a shot off on anyone in the league. Hi dude, u steal my idea...
