Wrong... These protests will help enforce a mandate that requires all cops to wear body cameras. Hopefully this will be the end of cops blatantly lying under oath about events that "occured".
implying the chain of custody, video editing of 12 hour shifts, battery life, SD card capacity, and cops accidentally destroying the cameras won't be a problem. dash cams have their storage in locked compartments in the trunk that the cop cannot access.
good points. makes me wonder if the camera feeds could just be linked to a centralized upload then instead
Everyone gets mistreated at times. Some more than others, obviously. But only one group of people have consistently rioted and brought damage upon their very own communities. Why is that?
Not even that but there wasn't a lack of evidence in this case, I doubt a cop body camera would have changed anything it would be just even more evidence for the lynch mob to ignore while they are burning the town.
Meanwhile in St. Louis : http://www.infowars.com/blacks-screamed-kill-the-white-people-before-brutal-murder-of-zemir-begic/ hate-crime? Sad..
Yea, i never thought about the cops holding the actual footage. More of a live stream to a storage server, with a monitoring center ensuring the cameras have 100% uptime.
It's obviously not racially motivated. The article says so. Oh and no mainstream media will cover this. Since, you know, it's not race related.
This is why every law abiding citizen should own a gun, n this is why I'm armed at all times (except bars and places that prohibit guns). Thank God I never had to use it, but in situation like this, they wouldnt get a chance to hummer my a $$ to death.
Already happening. We use L3 Technology if you would like to research on your own. Issue is, the city paid for in-car audio/video, however, when we asked in our most recent collective bargaining for the financial means from the city to issue the entire force the body camera as well, the city manager nearly fainted at the cost and laughed us out of the room (and I work for a relatively wealthy municipality with only 149 patrol officers). I bought my own body camera about 2 years ago after I had an incident where a citizen made a blatantly false complaint that had serious implications against my livelihood. Luckily I had a partner on scene who had already purchased his own camera and it was running and caught the entire incident in beautiful HD. The citizen ended up with a nice charge of false report but I feel that it would have been a lot worse had I not had that video as evidence. My camera is my own and is typically used for my own personal review when writing reports, however our DA's office has gotten the video submitted as evidence on a few major cases. It is great watching a defense attorney slump into their chair when a judge allows the video to be submitted. Overall, I love the idea of every officer wearing a body camera, but unless it is mandated into federal law, it is going to be hard to justify the purchase of such things to most average municipalities.
If Officer Wilson had worn a body camera, the protesters would look ridiculous right now due to the truth being shown for all to see.
I would think that is a better use of some of the millions in Homeland Security funds that are currently outfitting PDs with armored personnel carriers, excessive body armor/riot/SWAT gear, etc.... Just out of curiosity, any idea how many police officers (state and local) there are in the US?
Of course, it was photoshopped for accuracy as part of a "truth in protesting" campaign. That's what they are truly protesting even if they don't know it which is why they look ridiculous.
Of course you wouldn't Mr bigtexxx especially when the most catastrophic 5h1t that has been done in this country has mostly been perpetrated by white people but you believe only black people are worthy of being stereotyped... Lol. There have already been incidents where body cameras were conveniently turned off. But you're right it should help. Ironically Wilson got a million bucks donated to him by the public and now the President is going to make the public spend 260 million because of his actions... "GREAT JOB WILSON"...!
We're talking about 'murica here, stick to the topic. When's the last time anyone else trashed their own town over "police brutality" ?
