F Darius Miles scored 13 points in just more than 13 minutes in a loss to the Cavs. This means if Miles plays on Friday against Utah, the $18 million he's owed on a contract with the Trail Blazers will count against the Blazers' salary cap. The development would make the Blazers a luxury-tax payer and limit their future free-agent spending. Trail Blazers president Larry Miller threatened a lawsuit against any team signing Miles. "I just tried to stay out of it," Miles said. "I don't want my name and face on the news about something bad. I just want to find a team I can call home."
If I was the Grizzlies, I would let him sit until the trade deadline, dangling the thought of playing Miles as incentive for the Blazers to make a deal.
13 ponts in a game against the cavs? looks like a servicable player. portland is greedy!!! You have 2 future all stars with a bunch of young talent and you still want more??? play the guy, its obviously not about the money with miles, he just wants to play (he already has all the money anyway)
If you can score 13 pts vs. the Cavs, one thing is abundantly clear--your injury wasn't career-ending. Eff the Blazers.
Agreed, I hope he plays tonight.....and the rest of the year for that matter. Screw the Blazers...and their cap room. DD
I can see a trade deadline deal going down already: Greg Buckner Darius Miles for Greg Oden and future first round considerations
I hope they sit him until the last second. Literally Memphis calls a timeout with a second left and puts him in.
the NBA is monitoring this Miles affair closely so im sure they wont approve any trade involving Miles going to Portland. Portland tried to pick him up from waivers when Memphis first waived him and the NBA rejected it
I wouldn't mind seeing Darius sit and then play the game in Portland next month. How hilarious would that be? But I'm sure Miles would rather play than to sit and really stick it to the Blazers.
Definitely. Though his stat line was interesting for that game. Other than minutes, FGA, FT's and the resulting points, zeros across the board. no boards, assists, steals, turnovers, fouls, anything.
its best for them to get it over with now. he had a great showing in his previous game. there is a perfectly good reason he should and will play tonight. no one will then be able to argue that they played him just to hurt the blazers.
