I never said anything was wrong with it. people are making this out to be extra special because the federal government got involved, like its extra bad. I understand the point that the gov't has a high conviction rate. its been repeated like 50 times in this thread. I just don't believe that this is any more serious than any other crimes that nfl players have been involved.
You don't think that funding and being a primary facilitator for an interstate gambling ring is more serious than say a DWI or getting caught with a joint?
This thread is about Vic, those other thugs have nothing to do with this thug. Vic is hopefully going to get what is coming to him, hopefully the others will too. I think your point is just to argue here in this thread. I hope Vic gets procecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
So are you upset because someone like Leonard Little wasn't as vilified as Vick has been? Or are you upset because he hasn't been found guilty in a court of law? If it's the latter, I'm kinda with you. The allegations are horrendous and disgusting, but I'm willing to believe that he could be innocent and believe in the innocent until proven guilty system. However, I'm not ready to say that these allegations are necessarily not as bad as someone who makes a very terrible decision that leads to the death of a human. I think the intent behind the actions speaks volumes. Seriously...drowning and electrocuting dogs because they don't fight well. Setting up rape rooms where the pit bulls are allowed to rape other dogs. That's one disgusting and miserable human being right there and yes, worse than someone who drove while drunk.
It is their jurisdiction, it crossed state lines, was organized crime.......all fit the bill. If Vick is guilty he will deserve whatever he gets. DD
So you think the feds only got involved because it was Mike Vick? I don't care, if the guy did the crime, he needs to do the time, Mike Vick or not. DD
I think they got involved to make a point about dog fighting, it could have been any other famous person. just like when they went after martha stewart.
of all the things the feds can "make a point" about...and they wanted to choose dog fighting? come on man. It was a major operation that spanded over state lines...that equals feds. enough with the spin.
again, the feds didn't get involved in this case because they new that the operation expanded state lines or that there was even gambling involved. they didn't get involved in the case until someone stumble on a dog fighting operation at one house in virginia. we know that as fact, so it is not spin.
and i still don't understand why that matters?? or why that lessens the charges he's facing? or why it doesn't mean he's in deep trouble? law enforcement "stumbles" into all sorts of things. that doesn't mean it doesn't get prosecuted. i'm at a loss pgabriel...i'm not trying to be a jerk...but i'm not sure what your point is anymore. what point are you trying to make by asserting that the feds "stumbled" into this?
I'm talking about the assertion that because these are federal charges that vick has played his last game, that because these are federal charges its more serious than other crimes in the nfl. I'm also talking about your "organized crime" statements, the fact that you have asked if these are cause for rico charges.
