Except intent is important here. Little did something stupid - he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and got 90 days in jail. Not to dismiss that, but people tend to be more forgiving of that than something intentional as what Michael Vick is accused of - right or wrong, that's how our society tends to be.

But again, the main issue that Leonard Little is not the face of the franchise. It's much easier to sign someone that way. Dog lovers are a decent portion of the fan base of just about every team. If you sign him, how do you market Michael Vick to your team?

you market him them same way you market every other criminal in the nfl. this to shall pass. I think the initial out rage will settle as it always does. the game is bigger than these guys. there hasn't been a player yet who has brought it down. people will not stop watching.

People see Vick as a person who likes to kill animals only for the sheer pleasure of killing. They see a sick, bloodthirsty, cruel sociopath. I don't know how you market that.

i watched the brilliant new show "madmen" the other night. one of the plotlines was the star of the show had to figure out an ad campaign for Lucky Strikes cigarettes after information on the health hazards of cigarettes was coming out. as history has taught us you can market anything.

again, this to shall pass, alot sooner than people think

Four homies with some pit bulls are not an organized crime ring.

it amazes me how people seem to miss how unique these facts are...how unique this case is. everyone has different perspective, to be sure. but this case is a perfect storm.

    Comparing to Leonard Little:

This may come off badly, but there are alot more dog lovers in the US than people who knew the lady he killed. Not saying the deaths of dozens of dogs is on the same level or exceeds the death of a human, but Vick's actions hit a nerve with A LOT more people than Leonard's does.

I can't remember who posted it, but I think that's more due to the intent behind what Little did and what Vick did. If it was proven that Little's intent that night was to get hammered, drive home and, on the way there, kill someone, the reaction among the public would be different.

There are a lot more dog lovers in the U.S. than people who knew Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman. That doesn't change the hate we all have for O.J.

People hate O.J. more because he was found no guilty and his actions since than for what he actually did though.

Not that I can't sympathize with someone who has lost a loved one to a drunk driver, because I can. But since pets are like your children, seeing one being intentionally hurt and unable to defend themselves is so much worse IMO.

OK, what about Rae Carruth? I think people hated O.J. before he was even found not guilty.

I think it's more the intent behind it than the action itself. Either way, if the charges are true, Vick's a ****ing scumbag.

BTW, anyone check out The Onion today. Hilarious.

Actually, in a perfect world, people should hate Rae Carruth more than OJ. Not only killed his wife, but almost killed his own child (and from what I've read, his child has cerebral palsy from the trauma). Based on their actions alone, Carruth is much more unlikeable O.J., but not by much of course. Carruth was brought to justice though and is paying his debt to society. OJ isn't, other than the money he is having pay from the civil suits.

it amazes me how some people dislike vick so much that they think dog fighting is worse than killing humans

It's not just the dog fighting. It's the drowning, eletrocution, rape, etc. of dogs as well.

To accidentally kill a human is not the same thing as killing a dog on purpose in the manner alleged in this case, IMO.

And I don't think it has anything to do with Vick. Do you really believe that MadMax would feel different about this if it was another player?

    :D

yeah, that's it. if matt schaub or vy did this i'd turn a blind eye. if he were indicted by the feds facing charges that name him as an organizer of a 9-state crime ring that has operated for years torturing and abusing dogs while making money off gambling over their barbaric fights....i'd be cool with it.

it's all about dislike for vick. and, as you all know, i've made it so clear that i think it's worse to host dog fights than to kill humans. if i had a dime for every time i said that....i'd probably owe someone some money right now.

Is it possible to think that killing humans AND killing dogs is disgusting? Who cares which one is worse? They're both reprehensible.

Nope. You either have to give hugs and kisses to Vick or fellatio to Leonard Little.

    Your choice.

Then whose dislike for Vick is getting in the way of their judgment here? I assume you meant MadMax since yours was a direct response to one of his quotes.
