true but here is where les' money has been going over the past few months i wonder how it feels to lose half a billion dollars?
I hope they are. However, I expect the Griz would want at least one draft pick in the deal - unless they're that desperate to dump Miller and Cardinal's salary.
one of the guests on rome is burning just mentioned it as well. perhaps this thing has some legs.... if we land miller for head + expiring, well hot damn! i hope we can keep bonzi in all this. maybe something like head, snyder, francis and a pick or something.
No. Snyder and Wells are expiring this summer. Head is a young shooter on a cheap contract. Steve could potentially not use his player option this summer, which will take him off the book. I doubt he really wants to stay in Memphis. Mike James has a shorter contract than Miller and Cardinal. This would work in their favor. But the question is will they get a better deal from other team.
Content? I think not. If the Spurs sign Artest, the Rockets become like the Little Sisters of the Poor in the West, on the outside looking in. Don't tell me you have bought into Rafer Magic? This team needs more tools, the West is ridiculously loaded with talent. We need more size, shooting, and athleticism.
In fairness, the Lakers did have to give up a promising young PG in Crittendon and two first round picks. That is some value - still, Pau Gasol is an All-Star. Mike Miller is a second tier type player and if Cardinal is part of the deal - well, we're not exactly getting Pau Gasol but we're still relieving them of quite a bit of salary. I can't imagine we'd have to give up as much as the Lakers, but at the same time, I could see a vicious bidding war for Miller's services considering all of the moves that have been made in the West of late. I can't imagine that the Nuggets aren't interested. Utah is probably interested too - Miller and Cardinal are both white.
I worry about other teams like Miami and Golden State have more to play around with in terms of cap relief, but if the Rockets can grab Miller without giving up a core player, then I would be ecstatic. If they could somehow nab Lowry, they could then entertain moving players like Brooks and Novak and whatever garbage we have left for something else. Whatever happens, this has been a fascinating year in the NBA.
I just heard on the ROME IS BURNING SHOW (1:50 PM PST) rumors about ARTEST to DENVER and MILLER to HOUSTON. He was discussing this with fellow guests from ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine. I think we need a CONSISTENT 3rd threat to go along with the INCONSISTENT contributions of Bonzi, Scola and Alston. I thought I'd share this with my fellow Bretheren! Nomaan
I don't want to get my hopes high on this rumor. So I'll wait until I see the "[OFFICIAL] Mike Miller traded to the Rockets" thread.
I just can't see a trade for Miller, they my want Luther Head, but they need big men to build with. I don't think they make a trade with us unless we include either Landry or Scola which either would be dumb. They did make a stupid trade for Pau, but they would be doubly stupid for what we are willing to offer. I don't care what trade situation you can think of, but never in a million years would they take on Mike James contract. They want to dump salary and rebuild and they have too many guards as it is. They want young talent and expiring contracts, Mike James is neither.
If we're gonna send out everybody and take back Cardinal, we might as well take back Kenny Thomas with Artest for the same bunch.
