So you'd rather be a 40 win team that doesn't show heart and is doomed to mediocrity for the next 5 years like NY?

You talk a good game but I'd rather not stake the future of the franchise on one player's whims. Btw, nobody wants to play with Bosh or Martin but now people want to play with Bosh AND Martin? Interesting.

    1) Our needs are C and SF, certainly not at PF.

    2) As for needing a star or two, well sure, we grab whichever one we can get (including moving up in the draft and taking a SG if that's what we see), but I want to point out, Bosh couldn't win the championship, even with Lebron and Wade next to him.

As for why Miami would want Scola, the answer is that Scola's game is more team-oriented.

I see Bosh as a better scorer, a better go-to-guy, a better rebounder (now) and a better defender. He has an all-star body and all-star talent. He's very good today, but he's still young and can be even more good. He reminds me a little bit of the Grizzlies' Pau Gasol. I think it's possible to see an improvement in him, gaining experience, hunger, toughness. He would likely grow as a player in Houston, I think he's in the perfect moment of his career to go for him.

Right now, I would say almost the opposite with Luis...

I understand the doubts about the salary difference, but at those levels, it is what it is, we want an all-star, and true all-stars are expensive. In our situation, we can't be that selective: "Howard, Paul, or nothing". For now you get an all-star, and you keep on building the team. And maybe one day you can get another one via trade or sign and trade.

i think the bottom line is, he costs too much regardless of any upside he has. and wanting bosh is similar to you trying so hard to court a girl who in the chooses some other guy to be with. after 1 year going out with that guy and the relationship turns sour, we still want to go for the same girl. please ask yourself one question, is he really worth 15mil++ for years to come?

and to the guy who said bosh is the 2nd best PF in the league, you obviously never heard of LeMarcus Aldridge (Yes he's better than Pau cos he carried the Blazers when Roy got hurt), now i'll trade Scola+Young Players for him, cos he can dominate on both ends of the floor. no way Rockets is even interested in Bosh with that kinda contract, he's overpaid.

i think we should just focus on getting a solid centre like marc gasol

Patterson is a better defender, a solid enough offensive player and ultimately i think will be an overall better player than Bosh.

This would cap us out and only be a temporary slight upgrade.

All for trading Scola, all for getting a superstar it needs to be at SF or C..and i'd rather tank and get it in the draft.

He's already a better defender, so Bosh is spotting him 7 years to develop a killer 18 footer...oh wait.

I'm also with those looking to pass on Bosh. I think he'd pair up nicely with Martin.

    Downsides (almost all mentioned):
What kind of attitude would he have getting kicked out of the Superfriends so quickly? Especially since he joined them to take pressure off himself?

He went to Miami explicitly refusing to play C, which means Patterson goes completely to waste and we slightly upgrade the 4 spot instead of taking care of the big need at 5 or 3.

He's pretty pricey for a non-franchise guy, especially as a finesse PF that rarely goes to work on the boards or mixing it up down low. As the CBApocalypse comes down, it's iffy to make a long term cap-killing move before knowing what exactly is going to happen. Hell, it's within the realm of possibilities that Miami is FORCED to firesale or even amnesty clause him, making the price fall to next to nothing.

He may not be as big a name or star, but I'd be ten times more aggressive chasing Marc Gasol.

This guy acts like Shareef Abdur Rahim never existed and even TREVOR ARIZA wasn't able to put up insane numbers playing with two of the best players in the NBA.

I would say he's SAR 2.0 but I think he's more like SAR 8.0, I've lost count honestly.

I'd take him, but for the right price. You'd probably have to get Riley wasted for him to agree to take on some our crap from us...

Chris Bosh is a dirty slut. And he would not lead us to anything.

Chris Bosh can actually make his own shot... But by getting him we'd have no reason to hang on to pat... And I like Pat. Bosh is a lot better than he looks on the court with Wade and James.... Both of them have even called him the most important person on the team.

I'd guess there's a better chance of them trading James than Bosh though... Though they are not moving anyone anyways.

I'd take him for Scola+Miller+one of the following: 1st rd. pick/Williams/Hill

I'd take him as our #2 guy. We'd still need to acquire that #1. Having guys like Bosh on the team will make it EASIER to acquire a star, since stars want to play with stars.

Not gonna happen though, I think Miami builds around the big 3.

I think Miami stays with the Big 3 until at least the next trade deadline or the next offseason. They came close to winning the title, so, unless they clearly see a fundamental flaw which cannot be fixed without breaking up the Big 3, they should at least give this group another try. If the team chokes again, or if the chemistry starts going south (as a "hangover" from this year's finals), they can make a move then. I doube they give up on things right friggin now. But then again, you never know.

You might as well get it over with and do a photo shop of DH in a Bull's jersey.

And although Miami made the Finals, they were not a deep team at all. Guys like Bibby and Joel Anthony completely sucked.

They have another year to build up a decent supporting cast.
