It's amazing how people are so rigidly set in artificial stereotypes about NBA players having to play a certain way because it upsets their view of conventional wisdom. 29 wins and 39 losses says otherwise.
it's not even up for debate. James is a far better player. It was a bad trade, plain and simple. Alston will never be more than a solid backup PG. I like Rafer, but mike james could have carried us to a few more wins this year. I don't see how anyone couldn't agree with that.
2205-2006 Mike James& Chris Bosh + 4 wins = 2005-2006 Tracy McGrady & Yao Ming. Now who is that supposed to discredit? Oh, that's right, the guy who makes 3 million dollars and was acquired on the cheap.
Heaven knows that we need a point guard who will SHOOT FIRST SHOOT FIRST SHOOT FIRST SHOOT FIRST PASS to TMac PASS to Yao That's brilliant. Vital 8 mins per game. Will he fit in (as the PG) with a very different team with 2 clear superstars, answer is still no. Nothin you said addressed that. As for the bogus fallacy you mentioned, discuss it with someone who said or believes that. 'Managed to fit in' ... what a ringin' endorsement. And what's the basis for that conclusion? The 8 minutes per playoff game? That he has been with 6 teams in 9 years? (Sound like a bunch of GMs agree w/ the 'hackneyed cliche').
Man, did the left half of your brain accidentally fall out this morning? Which Tracy McGrady are you talking about? The one on pace to play 70 games this year?
Do you think everyone else is that stupid? 2205-2006 Mike James& Chris Bosh + 4 wins = 2005-2006 INJURED Tracy McGrady & INJRUED Yao Ming.
to many of you guys are stuck on the idea that James took shots away from tracy and yao. let go of your love of the two and evaluate this objectively.
Exactly. He was averaging over 8 assists a game the only time during the year all three were healthy.
Notice how Sam so deftly avoided the issue? When he get's in one of his pissy moods he prefers sonorous prose over data and logic.
It's hard to pass to them when they're in street clothes. Not to mention having a guard who can run a break and actually finish on one and also be the best perimter defender on the team would be nice. But no, we need a pass-first PG who can't score or shoot, that's why Stockton has so many rings and guys like Ron Harper, Magic Johnson, Derek Fisher, Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups, Isiah Thomas are such failures. That's why Mark Jackson was such a great PG for us a few years ago. Yet he managed to hit a bunch of 3 pointers, and played alot during the regular season. Anyway, he certainly looked vital when he pretty much singlehandedly saved our asses in Game 6 last year Except for his performance last year, when he did so. Nothing you say addresses the fact that he contributes the three things this team lacks the most: 1. heart/desire/drive, whatever you want to call it 2. perimeter scoring, and 3. defense I guess we'll just be content with Rafer having his occasional 1 decent shooting month per year since he's THE POINT GUARD OF THE FUTURE. You're the chief spokesman for it judging from your posts in this thread.
No, I trust people realize that NBA games are played IN REALITY and that you don't get do-overs when your players are injured. I don't care about you being an apologist for Tracy's back or whatever emotional problems caused him to miss games and have a lackluster season overall. I'd rather have a healthy good player for 82 games than an ailing superstar who plays for 40 games. This is reality, not NBA 2k6
No, it's entirely correct. I mean, if we're just going to pin Toronto's season on James, I can pin the Rocket's season on arbitrary players as well.

and I'm talking about 2 for 7, 4 pts, 2 assists and a turnover game 7 vs Dallas last year, and a big mouth.
